Regular weekly DIY bike workshops start up in Auckland

Bike Auckland

Tumeke Cycle Space welcome you to the launch of their weekly bike maintainence workshops in their new, permanent, central location!

Recently Tumeke have teamed up with the newly formed Tangleball (a place for creative people to collaborate on building their ideas with the aim to nurture both technical and artistic ideas). This is set to be an exciting partnership and will mean that we can now offer a permanent, central city space for the bike workshops and other projects to happen.

To kick start the new year and get the space rocking we will be opening for weekly DIY bike workshops from THIS SUNDAY the 16th of Janurary, and all Sundays there after (more opening hours will hopefully be added).

Time: 11am till 3pm (note: the wider Tangleball space is open to the public from 3pm till 5pm, so fine to stay later and check that out also.)

Place: 27 Edinburgh Street, on the corner with Ophir Street, just down from K Road, see the map here.

What: Some folks from Tumeke will be at the space to help you access and use the tools, bike stand, pump etc and can also help supply some basic gear (cables, puncture repair kits and limited spare parts) for a small donation. The idea is to come along with your bike, use the equipment and get support from others who are passionate about bikes. A koha for the use of tools and the space would be appreciated.

Also starting up this year are monthly skill sharing workshops on a specific maintenance skill. These will be on the last Sunday of the months time slot. The first one will be on January 30th and will cover puncture repair skills. It will be kid friendly and open to all ranges of experience. The focus again is on participation, there will be wheels and puncture repair equipment to use or bring your own. These will also be for a koha. Stay tuned for the new skill/topic each month and if you wish to host one please get in touch!

For any questions, if you are keen to get more involved with the collective or have bikes, parts or tools to donate please email us at

Cheers and happy cycling
