SH16 causeway shared path works next week

Shared path on Rosebank PeninsulaGuest Blog by Elizabeth Collins, State Highway 16 Causeway Alliance

We have planned to asphalt a 30m section of the cycleway/shared path at south Traherne Island – that’s the area on the city side approach to the Rosebank Peninsula – next week, with preparation on Monday, if the weather improves.

The work will be completed in two stages between 9.30am and 4pm with a single lane available for cyclists and pedestrians to pass. The single lane will be supervised by Stop/Go traffic controllers at each end of the work area.

We will start the first stage of the paving at 9.30 am, which will then be independently inspected – and ideally approved – by 1pm. If approval for the morning works is received, pedestrians and cyclists will be moved over to the newly asphalted path so we can carry out stage two of the asphalting works. Stage 2 will be completed by 4pm when the full shared path will be opened to both eastbound and westbound cyclists and pedestrians.

Here’s the same works schedule in summary form:

  • Mon 30 Sept – traffic control will be in place to guide cyclists while prep work is undertaken, cyclists will be managed over a single lane when required between 9.30am-4pm
  • Tues 1 Oct – cyclists will be managed over a single lane during works between 9.30am–4pm
  • Weds 2 Oct – traffic control will guide cyclists, new gates are installed and a single lane will be in use between 9.30am-4pm

If the weather is still wet, the works may have to be delayed.
