Sam Gray: Off to the World Championships

3 min read

coronet peakAlthough Cycle Action is all about everyday, transport cycling, we are always happy to see a New Zealander doing well in the world of sport cycling.

Belmont local Samantha Gray has been selected by Cycling New Zealand as a wildcard to compete at the UCI Amateur Road World Championships in Denmark in September, and she needs to fund her own way to get there. Sam will be representing New Zealand in the Time Trial and the Road Race in the M2 Masters Women Category.

We hope you will support these local events to help raise funds to get Sam to Denmark to compete against the best amateurs in the world. For further information see www.facebook.com/samgraycycling and to donate directly to her cause see www.givealittle.co.nz/samgray . (If you are a local business interested in sponsoring Sam and having your brand represented on North Shore roads for many hours a week, please contact her directly on her FB page)

Set up from 6.45pm – bring your own road bike and windtrainer. Got a bike but no windtrainer? – hire one there for a $5 donation to TGS. A great way to kick of the week’s winter training, and get underway for your early summer events like the Lake Taupo Challenge. Whatever your fitness or ability level, you’ll get a lot out of this class. Tap into Gordy’s decades of cycling wisdom and experience! Don”t forget your drink bottles and a towel. Changing facilities available.

If you don’t want to sell your gear, but you want rid of it, donate it to the sale! Message Sam on the FB page and she’ll arrange pick up or a dropoff location. This is a great opportunity to unload gear as it takes place right after the Takapuna Grammar and Belmont Intermediate Students spin classes and before the Gordon McCauley public spin class, so there will be lots of cyclists there!
