Orpheus Drive, Onehunga – Closed for cars [for a while]

Hi all – just passing on the news that for construction reasons, the contractors building the new foreshore park / headlands at Onehunga will close Orpheus Drive from Monday 14th for at least the next couple months (shame it won’t be closed permanently, then the costs for the planned off-road cycleway along here would be zero!).

For those who are worried about having to detour big-time – don’t fret, the contractor will leave a 2m plus wide path open for cyclists and pedestrians.

Neat. Still rare enough we get treated with more convenience than car drivers. Take care when passing other people, and enjoy seeing the new land rise from the sea!
