Biketober is all about celebrating the simple joy of getting around on wheels – and what better way to do that than by sharing your favourite biking moments?
Whether you’re pedalling to work, cruising down the waterfront, or taking a spontaneous sunset ride with friends, we want to see what biking means to you. Snap a photo that captures the fun, freedom, and fulfilment that riding brings – and enter it into this year’s Biketober Photo Challenge!
Every entry automatically earns you 10 free minutes on Flamingo scooters, so you’re already winning just for taking part. Plus, there are weekly mini-prizes and three major end-of-month awards waiting to be claimed. The more photos you share, the more chances you’ll have to win!
Weekly Themes to Inspire You
Each week of Biketober has its own photo theme, giving you a new reason to hop on your bike and get creative. Entries are open Monday to Saturday, with judging every Sunday and winners announced on our socials each Monday.
Here’s what’s coming up – and a few ideas to get those creative gears turning:
Week 1 (6–11 Oct): Scenic
Show off your favourite views that cycling has led you to – maybe it’s the morning mist on your commute, a colourful mural you pass on an errands trip, or your favourite tree-lined trail.
Week 2 (13–18 Oct): Outfit
Capture your best bike style! From fluoro safety chic to your go-to riding gear, show us what you wear when you ride.
Week 3 (20–25 Oct): Buddies
Cycling is better together. Snap a selfie with your riding crew, a family cargo-bike adventure, or even your dog in a handlebar basket!
Week 4 (27–30 Oct): Spooky
Channel those Halloween vibes – think costumes, decorated bikes, or a night-ride lit by glowing wheels.
Major Categories + Prizes
At the end of the month, our expert panel of judges will select three standout photos to take home some amazing prizes.
The Funniest photo will be the one that makes everyone smile. The Most Creative will show biking in a whole new light. And the Judges’ Favourite will capture the true spirit of Biketober — joy, freedom, and life on two wheels.
Meet the Judges
Our incredible judging panel for this photo challenge brings together a mix of creativity, experience, and passion.
First up is Craig Potton, a renowned New Zealand photographer and environmentalist whose work celebrates the beauty of the outdoors – and the importance of protecting it. He’ll be looking out for photos that capture the magic of exploring the outdoors on two wheels.
Joining him is Devon Briggs, a World Champion Paralympian cyclist who knows all about the joy and determination that come with riding. Devon brings a rider’s eye for energy and movement to the judging table.
Rounding out the panel is Carol Green, Bike Auckland’s much-loved illustrator, known for her creative flair and community spirit.
Together, they can’t wait to see how you capture the joy of biking!
How to Enter
It’s easy to join in, simply submit your photo(s) through our website! You can enter as many photos as you like, and each one is another chance to win. The challenge runs 1–31 October 2025, with overall winners announced in November after all entries have been reviewed.
