News update from the NW’ern Cycleway

Sept 4 update from the Causeway Alliance Team:
(with another of their great aerial photos!)

Causeway aerial 4 Sept 2014
The team are in the process of relocating a section of the northwestern cycleway onto a temporary new alignment as work on raising and widening the Causeway gathers pace. The new section of cycleway near the Rosebank Road off-ramp will be open, weather permitting, from early next week (8 September).

The temporary alignment will be surfaced with a Grade 5 chipseal, which is a finer grade than Grade 3 road chip and will be swept. The surface of the permanent cycleway in its final configuration will be asphalt.

The Causeway Team have heard from a cyclist that the surface was a bit rough, so will get onto sweeping it straight away. They think the issue was the weather conditions at the time of the sealing. But don’t forget they are intent on keeping it in the best condition possible, (given the constraints of all the construction happening around the route!)

Sarah is happy to help with these sorts of queries, so feel free to get in touch.
