One of our 2014 highlights was working with the project teams building new cycleways across Auckland. The NZTA’s Causeway Alliance team are outstanding – they never fail to make our life a joy by posting messages on our blog updating people cycling the Causeway on the project’s progress. They frequently warn of changes to the cycleway route – despite the huge scale of the construction work around the cycleway, it is always open for use, the surface is kept remarkably useable, and the staff on site ready to wave and smile.
This year I noticed some businesses have stopped sending Christmas cards, but those who kept up the tradition put effort into making them memorable. The Causeway Alliance team stepped up to show their flare and talent. Here’s the card sent to Cycle Action and all our blog readers. (You’ll recognise some of the daily sights of life on the Causeway.)
We’ve also just received our first update for 2015 from the Causeway Communications team.
‘We’re reaching an exciting stage where we can commission the Oakley Creek boardwalk. If you’ve been on the North-western cycleway or driven past recently I am sure you will have noticed the bright yellow railings.
We’ve made a lot more progress since both of these photos were taken in early December.
We hope to be able to open the path, in mid’ January. We planning to have very informal opening, similar to the recent one at Lincoln Road.
Warm regards
Sarah Price, (Communications and Stakeholder Advisor, SH16 Causeway Upgrade Project)’
We’ll let you know when this ribbon cutting is planned – we’d love to involve and get photos of those of some of you who ride the Causeway on a daily basis.
