Connecting the west – new cycle lanes in Waitakere

1 min read

Waitakere City came into the super city with one last cycling gift last year – a new link connecting from Triangle Road (Massey/Westgate) to the current western end of the Northwestern Cycleway. The Triangle Road cycle lanes and Central Park Drive off-road path were also accompanied by a new pedestrian/cyclist bridge over Huruhuru Creek, removing a pinch point in a high-speed area.

Now Auckland Transport is following up with new cycle lanes on Don Buck Road, to connect Triangle Road with the coming cycleways along Hobsonville Road further north. This growing area of our city is getting more and more friendly to cycling, whether for recreation, sports, commuting, or just an amble over to your friend’s house. We invite all our members and friends to read about the proposal, and support it enthusiastically.

Please especially note the link to the Don Buck Road proposal brochure at the bottom of their page, as well as the online feedback link, which makes responding a breeze.
