In November 2025, Auckland Transport asked for input into their plans for Greville Road. The idea was to create walking and cycling connections to the existing ones along the Northern Corridor. The proposal included removing parking for a new cycle lane along the southern side of Greville Road.
We understand members of the community have pushed back strongly against losing the parking here. It’s possible the cycle lane will not go ahead. It could be cancelled completely, or there could be options to work with a shared path on the northern side of Greville Road, making it work for people on bikes and other users.
While the official consultation has closed, we think it’s a valuable moment for the Upper Harbour Local Board to hear the perspectives of people who bike in the area. If you would (or do) travel along this route, tell them so.
Your voice may help shape the best outcome for all road users while options are being considered.
How to contact the Upper Harbour Local Board
The email addresses for all members of the local board can be found on Auckland Council’s website. We recommend including them all on your email.
Please include ATEngagement@at.govt.nz on your email so they also hear your input.
