Update –
You beauties !! Cyclists of Auckland unite to a call for help!
Diana has asked us to pass on this message –: “I would like to thank all those people who’ve contacted me and offered to help with fixing the bikes. The response has been fantastic. I’ve got enough offers of help to sort things out, so a big thank you to everyone. Diana”
Thanks as well from Cycle Action !!
Our 2012 Christmas party was a fundraiser for the Mangere Centre’s Bikes for Refugees programme, so alot of you will know about the superb work done by the Centre in providing bikes and cycle training for refugees to use to help them make a success of their new life.
Cycling hero, Mangere Refugee Centre’s Diana Swarbrick, has a shipping container bursting with donated bikes and bike parts.
But she has a short term crisis, as her regular repair man is sick.
She would love to hear from anyone who can help for a day or half to help her out til he recovers.
Her programme means that refugees leave the Centre with a bike for affordable transport to local shops, schools or jobs. They are a magic key to help unlock their new life in Auckland.
It’s easy to get to the Centre by bike, including taking your bike for free to the Middlemore Train Station.
