If elected to represent Whau, I, Sarah Paterson-Hamlin, pledge:
I believe people of all ages should feel able to bike safely to get around. Auckland needs more climate-friendly transport to ensure a sustainable and resilient Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, protecting our environment and communities for future generations. If elected, I commit to making a safe, connected cycle network a priority.
Comments
Being able to cycle safely around Auckland is super important to my whānau and I strongly believe that transport choice is crucial. Not everyone is going to be able to or want to drive, take a bus, a train, cycle, or walk in every circumstance – we need a city that allows for us to make these choices as and when we need them. By providing more protected cycle lanes and investing in public transport, we can reduce congestion on our roads, pressure on our car parks, reduce emissions, and allow for different preferences, budgets, and abilities. Transport choice works for everyone, and cycling infrastructure is essential for providing that choice.
