The bike movement in Tāmaki Makaurau is vibrant and growing. More people are choosing to ride every day, and more homes and workplaces now sit within easy reach of safe cycleways. Bike Auckland has had some great advocacy wins recently, the kind that make all the hard work of our team and volunteers feel worthwhile. We’ve also noticed that Bike Auckland is being asked for its perspective more often, a sign of how far our voice has come.
We want to take this opportunity to farewell and thank our Communications Director, Sue Cardwell, whose last day with us is Tuesday 23 June.
Over the past two years, Sue has raised the bar on everything we do publicly. Our communications have become sharper, our digital presence stronger, and our voice in the advocacy space more consistent and more confident. Sue brought professionalism, care, and genuine commitment to the movement, and the work she has done will continue to benefit Bike Auckland long after her time with us.
We are grateful for everything Sue has given to Bike Auckland and to the people who ride bikes in this city. You can read her own reflections on her time with us in her farewell piece.
We will miss her, and we wish her well in everything that comes next.
