It’s a sad fact that safer street design often comes only after crashes. Near misses don’t get recorded – so it’s vital that all of us report crashes, especially minor ones which can get brushed off as unimportant.

Your minor crash may mean the street is improved, and someone else’s major crash never happens.

Tip: getting CCTV footage of a crash

We received this tip recently about gathering evidence after a crash (or after a theft). CCTV footage from public cameras is tricky to obtain because of privacy restrictions. The police need to request this on your behalf.

What to do after a crash

We go into more detail about reporting crashes and gathering evidence after a crash in this article, which is well worth a read.
