Guest blog from Murray Vaile, Volunteer Manager for MS Bike the Bridge
MS Bike the Bridge is on Sunday 10 November – Auckland’s iconic community cycling event
After the inaugural 2011 event, the routes have been revised and the finish changed to provide a big festival at Albany for all participants. A choice of distances is offered, including the very appealing and rare 20km ride over the Harbour Bridge, up the Northern Busway and through Albany Village to the Finish Line festivities at North Harbour Stadium.
The festival will include family and children’s cycling activities, as well as recognition of the hard-out cyclists who complete the full course.
MS Bike the Bridge deserves the support of everyone who bikes for any reason in Auckland. Joining this event is a hugely valuable way to make sure we all sustain and grow ‘MS Bike the Bridge’, and raise money for multiple sclerosis treatment charity.
Volunteers are also needed to help with pre event registering of cyclists on the Friday and Saturday prior to the following schedule. We’d love you to book in for more than one session, of course, but no pressure!
Friday 08 November
/ Session One: 10:00am – 2:30pm Session Two: 2:30pm -7:00pm |
Saturday 09 November
/ Session One: 10:00am-1:00pm Session Two: 1:00pm to 4:00pm |
As volunteers you have an essential role to help confirm entry detail as entrants arrive and give them their event registration (helmet and bike labels). Briefing on the event and a recap of likely questions will be given on site.
The registration venue is on the city side of the bridge, at the Bungy Jump HQ, Curran St Extension (under the city side Harbour Bridge approach). Easy access and a café adjacent. Each volunteer will get an event T shirt.
Please contact me to help or if you have any questions.
