Women, Trans, & Queers Cycle Maintenance 101: Shifter Issues!

Saturday April 18 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Join Zara (pronouns: they/them) at Bike Hub Queen’s Wharf for the third and final session in our series of three sessions on cycle maintenance 101 for WTQ participants.

These practical, hands-on workshops are suitable for beginners and best suited to people aged 16 and above. You’ll be learning how to look after your bike alongside other women, trans, and queer folks, with skilled mechanics also from these communities, in a friendly environment. These workshops aim to build your confidence to discover more bike repair skills at Bike Hubs all over Tāmaki Makaurau. You are welcome to stay at the end to continue chatting and connecting with other attendees.

Session two: Shifter Issues Bring ease to your cycle trips.

This third session in our series is a practical, hands-on workshop suitable for those with some bike tinkering experience.

At this Shifter Issues 101 workshop, our WTQ mechanics will take you step by step through:

  • safety checking your bike
  • troubleshooting gear shifting problems
  • tuning front and rear derailleurs

Bring your own bike to practice on if you can. There will also be a couple of bikes available to borrow for the session if needed. Spaces are limited so please register to secure your spot.
