How to get in touch

Bike Auckland welcomes enquiries from journalists, producers, and commentators covering transport, urban design, and everyday life on bikes in T?maki Makaurau. Our Communications Director, Sue Cardwell, is the primary contact for all media requests.

Email: sue@bikeauckland.org.nz
Phone: +64 22 369 1260

We respond promptly to requests for interviews, expert comment, background information, and data.

Some of the topics we comment on

    • Bike infrastructure and urban design — How protected cycleways, safer streets, and connected networks support a more accessible city, including commentary on specific projects.

    • Transport policy — How national and regional decisions influence travel choices, safety, accessibility, and the balance of Auckland’s transport system.

    • Micromobility and climate action — The role of bikes and other small, low-emission modes in reducing transport emissions, including how they contribute to the Transport Emissions Reduction Pathway.

    • Walking and cycling across the Waitemata Harbour — The long-standing need for a dedicated connection and our Liberate the Lane campaign for the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

    • Bike culture and events — Insights into Auckland’s growing riding community, local events, and the role of everyday cycling in city life.

    • Bike life — Practical guidance and commentary on everyday riding, including bike commuting, learn-to-ride skills, biking in winter weather, biking as a solution to March Madness congestion, biking with kids, and best practice for cycleway etiquette and shared paths.

    • Laws affecting people on bikes — Commentary on policies and regulations such as safe speeds and road rules that shape safety and access.

    • Kids on bikes — Advocacy for safe routes to school, family-friendly cycling, and giving children the freedom to move independently.

    • Bikes, micromobility, and disability — How adaptive cycles, involving the right people via inclusive co-design approaches, and accessible infrastructure expand mobility options for disabled people and support equitable transport choices.

Please do get in touch even if your topic isn’t listed here. Our focus is everyday biking for transport rather than recreational or sports cycling, and we’re always happy to help direct enquiries where we can.
