ViaStrada, a cycling-focussed consultancy from Christchurch is running one day cycling design courses end of February in Auckland. If you are a cycle advocate, community group member etc… who wants to get the skills – and make it easier to not be brushed off as “just a layperson” when discussing with authorities – then these courses are for you.
Several of CAA’s volunteers have participated in the courses, and they are well suited even for non-engineers or non-planners, as long as you bring the required interest.
Information and registration for the couses can be gotten here with the upcoming dates below – the “fundamentals of cycling” course will of course be the key one for most people interested:
- Fundamentals of Planning and Design for Walking – Tuesday 25 February 2014
- Fundamentals of Planning and Design for Cycling – Wednesday 26 February 2014
- Advanced Planning and Design for Cycling, modules 2 and 3 – Thursday 27 February 2014
- Advanced Planning and Design for Cycling, module 4 – Friday 28 February 2014
For further information, please don’t hesitate to contact Helen on (03) 366 7605 or Helen@viastrada.co.nz
If you have already assisted CAA in the past, we may be able to subsidise the entry fee – if not, for advocates the cost is $150, much reduced from the consultant’s fees.
