- Average of 10 hrs per week, 6 month contract

Are you passionate about creating a more lovable, sustainable, and people-friendly Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland?
If you are looking for an opportunity to be involved in something meaningful, and to create a positive impact on the wider community, then we have an exciting opportunity for you.
The Position
We are seeking a Valet Programme Manager for 10 hours per week. Our Bike Valet service encourages people to cycle for transport by providing secure, visible bike parking at events across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. It is a key platform for us to increase awareness of who we are and what we do, grow our audience, and share our advocacy with people who ride bikes across the region. Valet also contributes to Bike Auckland’s financial sustainability.
You would take the lead on managing and promoting our Valet service, helping to increase awareness of Bike Auckland and what we do, and getting more bums on bikes so that overall we can make an even greater positive impact. Your main goals would be to coordinate and grow our Bike Valet programme, and ensure Valet staff are helping more Aucklanders to connect with our campaigns and community.
You will work directly with our Chief Biking Officer, and connect regularly with the rest of our Crew; the Communications Manager, Administrative Assistant, and Community Activation Manager. We are a small, collaborative, and agile team committed to creating a more bike-able region.
Values:
- You are passionate about the many benefits of empowering more people to ride a bike, both individually as well as for whānau and the wider community
- You want Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland to be more accessible and safe for people who want to ride a bike (for transport as well as for recreation)
- You have a passion for, and a belief in, the power of collective advocacy to create positive change
- You are committed to diversity and inclusion
Experience:
- Your experience managing staff or volunteers has well-equipped you to be a supportive mentor for our casual Valet staff
- You are confident riding an e-bike on the road while pulling a heavy trailer – or keen to learn!
Skills:
- You are persuasive without being pushy, able to ‘sell’ the Bike Valet service
- You are self-organised, ‘locking things in’ gives you satisfaction
- You are alert to opportunities that can be seized as they arise
- You are calm in a crisis and can think clearly and make decisions under pressure
Responsibilities:
- Manage and support Valet staff and volunteers to deliver secure bike parking services
- Seek opportunities to promote and grow the bike valet service
- Work with the Crew to connect Valet customers with Bike Auckland initiatives
- Build and maintain relationships with event organisers and Valet clients
What’s in it for you?
This mahi (work) is for a passionate and self-motivated person, who will find it rewarding and fulfilling. When you are not at events supporting staff to deliver the Valet service, you will work flexibly from home. We offer the chance to join an inclusive and dedicated team who are proud to speak up for a better Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
