SUMMARY:The Big Fancy Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:Big Fancy Bike Ride: A Celebration of Bold Bicycling\nDate: Sunday\, October 6thTime: 12.30pm – the ride itself will start at 1pm on the dot. Please be on time!Starting Point: The Cloud\, 89 Quay Street\, Auckland CBD\, Auckland 1010\n \nEvent Description:\nBIG. BOLD. BEAUTIFUL.\nJoin us for the Big Fancy Bike Ride\, a vibrant celebration of cycling where everyone is welcome! Let’s fill the streets with the scent of anything but exhaust fumes.\nWe’re opening up this event to the entire community—because the more people who cycle\, the more we can inspire others to join in and make our cities healthier and more joyful.\nThis year\, we’re continuing the spirit of the Fancy Women Bike Ride under a new name\, welcoming not just women\, but everyone who wants to pedal with purpose and style.\n \nThe Route:\nOur ride will start at The Cloud on Auckland’s waterfront at 1 PM and take us along scenic bike paths to Mission Bay\, with photo stops at some of the city’s most iconic spots. We’ll end with a relaxing picnic by the Mission Bay Fountain.\n \nWe’re thrilled to announce that our amazing photographer\, Matt Crawford\, will be joining us to capture the day’s best moments. His stunning photos will be published on social media\, so get ready to pose and show off your outfits.\n \nThe entire ride will be along safe bike paths\, making it perfect for cyclists of all levels.\n \nDress Code:\nCome in your Sunday best—bold\, fabulous\, and whatever makes you feel strong and beautiful! Decorate your bike\, pose for photos\, take selfies\, and spread joy as we cycle through the city.\nGuidelines:\n– Be inclusive and support those new to cycling.– Bring your friends\, family\, and anyone who wants to experience a magical afternoon on two wheels.– Non-binary\, women\, and men are all welcome—just remember\, men should ride with us\, not ahead of us\, and everyone is encouraged to dress up!– Children who can ride independently and dogs on leads are also welcome!– Bring your BYO picnic and blankets along to enjoy a beautiful afternoon by the fountain.\n \nThis year Beam NZ has kindly offered us free scooters for those in need—please let us know beforehand if you require one as numbers are limited.\nNo registration is required—just bring your bike\, your energy\, and your enthusiasm!\nWe can’t wait to ride with you!\n \nNote: This event is free\, volunteer run by the community. We accept no liability for anything outside our control. You are responsible for your own safety on your bike and of those around you. All we are doing is providing a start point\, a time and a destination. By turning up you accept these conditions.

SUMMARY:Drop-in Bike Skills & Maintenance: The Cloud
DESCRIPTION:Do you live or work in the CBD and are keen to master the art of riding a bike? Want to learn to fix a flat? Mix the joy of learning with the whimsical lights and architecture of the Cloud\, and you’ve got rain-proof winter fun. \nOur Beginner Bike and Maintenance Drop-in Sessions in The Cloud will be held monthly through the winter months. Join us for the fourth and final winter session there on Wednesday 13th September from 5.30 – 7.30pm \nIf you’re new to riding\, haven’t been on a bike for a while\, or are getting back into it but need a bit of a confidence boost\, then come on by. And it is a great opportunity to introduce a friend to cycling. \nThere will also be a mechanic to help with quick fixes and share their knowledge\, so bring any questions you may have about how to keep your bike running smoothly through winter. \nWe’ll also be running small group rides along the waterfront on a first come first served basis. \nDrop in\, learn some new skills\, and enjoy pedaling around the Cloud. There’s no need to book – bring your own bike or borrow one of ours (available on a first come\, first served basis). We don’t want you to miss a moment of the fun\, so best to be there at 5:30pm! \nhttps://at.govt.nz/cycling-walking/training-and-events/beginner-bike-training-for-adults/#drop-in
