The Sunday Best Ride is back – be in quick!

Bike Auckland

After last year’s glorious debut ride through the central city, the Sunday Best Ride is heading further afield this year for another parade of gaiety, frivolity, and stylish bicycling.

In tribute to NYC’s legendary 5 Boro Bike Tour, our 2016 ride will wind its way through five Local Board areas, along greenways and quiet streets and newly built safe routes – on a mostly flat 15km ride from Western Springs to Mangere Bridge.

Get in quick: it’s a marshaled ride, so logistics means there are only 120 spots and no sales on the day. A $10 ticket will secure you a spot, and covers the light refreshments to start us off.

As always, frock up and dress to impress. Tweed if that’s your thing; vintage of any style; or your own quirky tribute to the golden age of cycling however you define it. There’ll be fabulous prizes for best-dressed, thanks to Rembrandt Suits (a $500 voucher!) and LBNZ Workshop (an enviably cool leather satchel!). Keep an eye on the Facebook page for more details, and to register to be in the running for prize draws.

A golden age of bikes – and trains? This year’s route is especially designed to offer plenty of opportunities to fold in and peel off along the way, and we encourage you to plan your own bespoke loop ride to and from home. Stay tuned for possible rail ticket discounts – Baldwin Ave and Mt Albert Stations are handy to the starting line, and Onehunga will be your best port of call for a homeward train ride.

So what are you waiting for? Grab a ticket or two!
