Keen to help promote ‘a clean energy future for our kids’? Join the Climate Tour de Shore! This free community event is a half-day tour of scenic landmarks of the North Shore, using fossil-fuel-free transport – bikes, electric bikes, and electric cars.

When? Sunday, 8th November, from 10am to 2pm.

Why? To help raise awareness of the need for more action on climate change, in the lead-up to the major international conference in Paris in December (and the global series of marches in November, with Auckland’s event on the 28th). This is a fun way to showcase the advantages of clean travel and to highlight our beautiful local landscape.

Where? The tour starts at Browns Bay Beach, drops in at the Albany Domain and then Onepoto Domain, and finishes up at Takapuna Beach.

How? You can get involved in one of two ways…

1. Join the tour on your bicycle, electric bike, or in an electric vehicle.

NB the route is suitable for experienced on-road cyclists only – you’ll need to take full responsibility for your own safety along the way. So we’re encouraging families in particular to take advantage of the second option:

2. Come along with family and friends to the tour stop nearest you, to show your support and join the festivity. The bigger parade of vehicles will be at each stop for a short while, but we encourage you to come for a few hours or more – bring a picnic, bring your own bikes, hang around.

Who? We’re keen to involve all sorts of community groups – ecological restoration groups, primary and secondary schools, cycling advocacy groups, and electric bike and vehicle enthusiasts.

If you’d like to be a part of it, or just to find out more, please contact Phil at philjones1063@hotmail.com or 021 835146.
