DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, 4th October 2025\nMeet at 12PM | Ride departs shortly after\nStart: Khartoum Place | Through Albert Park | End: MOTAT \nCome ride with us as we take up space on Tāmaki Makaurau’s streets in style! \nAs part of the Auckland Heritage Festival 2025 and Biketober\, we’re inviting everyone to dress up and roll out in celebration of this year’s theme: “Auckland at Play”. \nLed by women and welcoming all\, we’ll traverse Auckland’s streets\, highlighting heritage sites and shared spaces. \nThis year\, we honor the 75th anniversary of the Empire Games\, connecting past and present through the spirit of play. Whether you channel the bold spirit of the 1890s suffragettes or the playful flair of 1950s sports fashion\, come ride with joy\, visibility\, and community. \nTheme: Vintage vibes – from Victorian bloomers to 50s sportswear.\n️Route: From Khartoum Place (a tribute to Kate Sheppard and women’s rights) to MOTAT \nAll welcome – led by women and open to anyone who believes in joyful\, inclusive streets. \nLet’s make history by celebrating it — on two wheels.\nKeep an eye on this event on Facebook for route updates\, costume inspo\, and volunteer call-outs. \n  \nMade possible with support from the Albert-Eden Local Board  \n

BEAUTIFUL.\nJoin us for the Big Fancy Bike Ride\, a vibrant celebration of cycling where everyone is welcome! Let’s fill the streets with the scent of anything but exhaust fumes.\nWe’re opening up this event to the entire community—because the more people who cycle\, the more we can inspire others to join in and make our cities healthier and more joyful.\nThis year\, we’re continuing the spirit of the Fancy Women Bike Ride under a new name\, welcoming not just women\, but everyone who wants to pedal with purpose and style.\n \nThe Route:\nOur ride will start at The Cloud on Auckland’s waterfront at 1 PM and take us along scenic bike paths to Mission Bay\, with photo stops at some of the city’s most iconic spots. We’ll end with a relaxing picnic by the Mission Bay Fountain.\n \nWe’re thrilled to announce that our amazing photographer\, Matt Crawford\, will be joining us to capture the day’s best moments. His stunning photos will be published on social media\, so get ready to pose and show off your outfits.\n \nThe entire ride will be along safe bike paths\, making it perfect for cyclists of all levels.\n \nDress Code:\nCome in your Sunday best—bold\, fabulous\, and whatever makes you feel strong and beautiful! Decorate your bike\, pose for photos\, take selfies\, and spread joy as we cycle through the city.\nGuidelines:\n– Be inclusive and support those new to cycling.– Bring your friends\, family\, and anyone who wants to experience a magical afternoon on two wheels.– Non-binary\, women\, and men are all welcome—just remember\, men should ride with us\, not ahead of us\, and everyone is encouraged to dress up!– Children who can ride independently and dogs on leads are also welcome!– Bring your BYO picnic and blankets along to enjoy a beautiful afternoon by the fountain.\n \nThis year Beam NZ has kindly offered us free scooters for those in need—please let us know beforehand if you require one as numbers are limited.\nNo registration is required—just bring your bike\, your energy\, and your enthusiasm!\nWe can’t wait to ride with you!\n \nNote: This event is free\, volunteer run by the community.
