DESCRIPTION:Every year we decorate the bike parking along Karangahape Road in celebration of our LGBTQI+ community\, the queer history of K Rd\, and the growing cycle network. Will you help us put some decorations up? \nWe’ll be meeting at Zeki’s (K’ Road) at 10am on Saturday January 31st for a chat and a beverage before continuing on to put up the decorations. You’re welcome to bring crochet\, knitting\, or other crafts to work on for while we are there. \nOnce we’re hydrated (and probably caffeinated)\, we will begin to decorate the bike parking along Karangahape Road in celebration of Pride Month. This is a legal activity; we have an event permit. The decorations are pre-made crocheted and knitted scarves. We will sew them on to the bike parking. This is known as yarnbombing. \nBeginners are welcome – we will teach you. There will be scissors\, yarn\, and yarn needles available for you and your friends to use. \nPlease wear sunblock\, bring water\, and stay hydrated. SUMMARY:Labour Day Weekend Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:We’ll take the ferry over to the Northshore (Birkenhead) for a bike ride then return to the city via Takapuna\, Narrowneck and Devonport. We will meet up at the Ferry Building on Quay Street at 10am and decide which is the best ferry to get on. \nBring your bike\, wet and hot weather gear (because we live in Auckland)\, your Auckland Transport travel card or money for the ferry\, a roadworthy bike and helmet\, and a puncture repair kit (just in case). \nOur bike ride will be a return trip of approximately 30km from the Ferry Building. \nPshem will be leading the ride and Hils will be tail end Charlie \nAll riders are welcome\, nobody will be left behind. Some of the ride will be on the road and on cycle lanes. \nWe look forward to seeing everyone and hopefully the weather gods will behave.

So we are going to do it again on Easter Saturday at the same place! \nThe Rainbow Riders will register your bike to 529 Garage\, and give you a 529 shield. We’ll also have Rainbow Riders stickers \nFrom 10am to 1pm we will be by the Waterfront Container Library as you head towards the Wynyard Crossing walking and riding bridge from Quay street.\n\n529 Garage is a bike registration system which is free to use\, and helps to get bikes that are stolen back to their owners.
