SUMMARY:Ride & Seek - Point Chevalier
DESCRIPTION:Keen to check out the new bike paths in Pt Chevalier and Westmere these school holidays? Check out the self-guided\, family-friendly Ride & Seek discovery trail. Enjoy a bit of fresh air while exploring local connections and finding out fun facts about how people get around the neighbourhood – past\, present and future!\n \nHow to Ride & Seek: it’s easy! Just follow the paths from the Pt Chevalier shops and continue via Meola Road to Westmere village (or vice versa). Keep your eyes peeled for eleven different signs along the way. Use the QR codes on each sign to answer a quick quiz to get clues to the next location.  ️‍️‍\n \n\nBrought to you by Bike Pt Chev\, with kind support from Albert-Eden Local Board.️‍♂️\n\n \nPS These new cycleways are easily accessed from the NW Shared Path\, and take you past a bunch of local cafes and other neighbourhood attractions\, including MOTAT2. A great way to scout out future adventures! \n

DESCRIPTION:Hey\, Pt Chev – let’s meet on the street!  \n“Here Comes the Sun” is a community play street event\, brought to you by Bike Pt Chev and Pt Chevalier School with support from neighbours and community groups. \nOn Friday 1 November from 8am to 8pm\, we’re transforming Te R? Road outside the primary school into an all-day car-free play space\, that’s closed to traffic and open for people. \nInspired by the international movements for School Streets and Play Streets\, we’re welcoming summertime by shining a light on how our streets can be healthy and happy places for people of all ages. \n8am – 9am: The fun begins before school\, with a wide open traffic-free street where children can play\, scoot and bike\, while parents and teachers share coffee and chat. \n9am – 3pm: During the school day\, Te R? Road will become an open-air classroom for fun and creative learning activities\, with visits from other schools\, kindergartens\, and community groups. \n3pm – 8pm: After school\, everyone’s invited to come and play! As afternoon rolls into evening\, the street fills with music and old-fashioned fun and games\, plus food trucks from 5pm – 8pm\, for a neighbourhood street party vibe until sunset. \n• Walk\, bike\, or scoot to the event\, and enjoy free and secure valet bike parking from 3pm.\n• Dine at the Auckland Food Truck Collective food trucks\, or bring a picnic dinner.\n• Visit the Bike Pt Chev info tent\, check out the Safe Kids driveway safety display\, and Auckland Transport will be on hand with info about upcoming streetscape projects.\n• We’ll have games and activities to share\, but feel free to bring your own\, too.\n• The event is smoke-free\, no alcohol and zero-waste\, for good clean fun. BYO coffee mugs for free coffees from 8am-9am!\n• All ages are welcome\, but please leave dogs at home this time. \nHere Comes The Sun is supported and funded by the Albert-Eden Local Board’s Neighbourhood Arts Programme\, and brought to you by Pt Chevalier School and Bike Pt Chev in proud partnership with Auckland Transport and NZ Transport Agency/Waka Kotahi (as an Innovating Streets For People case study)\, with generous support from MacGregor Brothers Espresso\, BISC\, and Professionals Point Chevalier.

SUMMARY:Pt Chev Mystery Bike Hike
DESCRIPTION:Did you know you can ride for miles in most directions from Pt Chev\, almost entirely free from traffic? Join us for the first of what we hope will be many local bike adventures\, exploring off-road connected bike paths in our hood and beyond! \nWe’ll gather in the town square outside the library – then head off\, on an out-and-back ride of ~14km. It’s about half an hour in each direction\, so expect to be on the move for around an hour\, not counting stops to explore. \nOn our return to Pt Chev we’ll hang out at Nomad for a chat. Feel free to stick around! \n• Given the length of this initial ride\, it’s more suitable for adults and teens. Once we’ve tested the concept\, we’re planning future rides more suitable for families with children. (If you do want to ride along this time\, there’s a natural turnaround point that would make for a shorter 5km route.) \n• This ride is entirely off-road and on quiet streets\, with a couple of road crossings. \n• Drop us a line below to let us know you’re coming\, so we can plan ahead. You can also contact us at bike.ptchev@gmail.com \n• Make sure your bike’s in good working order before the day – please check your tires and brakes especially! \n• If we need to reschedule for any reason\, we’ll post an update on the chalkboard in the square opposite the library. \nAlso\, thanks to the Albert-Eden Local Board for their support for Bike Burb activities!
