SUMMARY:Bike Champions' Forum; Ōtāhuhu edition
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Bike Champions Forum in Ōtāhuhu\, where we are delighted to bring together everyone who is interested in riding a bike – for transport or otherwise. Our vision is for streets that are safer for the whole community so that anyone can choose to ride a bike\, and whānau (family) and tamariki (children) have greater wellbeing. \nWhether you are an experienced cyclist\, a beginner\, or yet to get on a bike\, Bike Auckland invites everyone to share their vision for how we can empower more people to choose to cycle and advocate for safer streets across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. \nIf you come by bike there will be bike parking available at the carpark behind the community centre. To ensure that your bike is safe and ready to ride\, a bike mechanic will also be present to perform basic safety checks. This service is free of charge\, so don’t miss this opportunity! \nPlease feel free to bring your whānau along; there will be lots of kai (food) to share. We look forward to seeing you there! \nArrive at 5.30om for a 6pm start. \nThis is a free event\, but if you can\, please get a ticket here\, so that we can keep track of how many people are coming 😊

SUMMARY:Power to the People: The e-Bike Revolution
DESCRIPTION:What if there was a way to reduce traffic congestion\, enjoy cleaner air in our cities\, make our streets safer\, improve accessibility for young\, elderly and disabled people\, and combat the cost of living crisis—all while helping to protect our planet? \nE-bikes offer an unprecedented opportunity to do just that—if we can make them more accessible to a wide range of people. \nBy helping people feel more comfortable keeping up with traffic\, ironing out the hills and generally making cycling more fun and accessible\, e-bikes help to get more people on bikes more often. \nAn e-bike rebate is the fastest way to give as many people as possible the opportunity to own and enjoy the life changing experience of riding an e-bike. \nBike Auckland is delighted to invite you to this Bike Champions Forum where we will discuss why e-bikes are the game-changers of transport\, and how an e-bike rebate scheme could be the catalyst for a safe\, sustainable and accessible transport system. \nSpeakers: \n\nWomen’s health advocate and former track cyclist\, Kirstie Klingenberg\nSustainable transport and accessibility advocate\, Tim Adriaansen\n\nModerator: \n\nTiffany Robinson\, Senior Active Modes Specialist for Auckland Transport managing the Regional Walking Programme and Women in Urbanism Aotearoa Committee member.\n\n22nd March\, 2022\n5.30pm for a 6pm start – 8pm\nFlagship\, 55 Madden St \nRegister here: https://www.eventbrite.co.nz/e/570236551877

SUMMARY:Bike Champion's Forum - Mayoral Transport Forum 2022
DESCRIPTION:What is the vision for Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s Transport Future? Come and hear directly from our key mayoral candidates. \nEventbrite link \n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nIf you have been following the news recently you would have heard that scientists are reporting that climate change isn’t just here already\, it’s happening faster than we thought.’ And we know that 43% of gas emissions in Tāmaki Makaurau are from transport and 70% of that comes from driving cars. \nThe biggest action that our soon to be elected mayor can take is in how they organise and invest in infrastructure for active modes of transport. Done right\, this will greatly reduce our carbon emissions. \nSo come along to the Bike Champions Forum to discuss the future of transport in Tāmaki Makaurau and put your burning questions to the key mayoral electoral candidates. And share this event far and wide and bring along that person you know that is on the fence about the role transport is going to play in our climate future. \nDetails: \nWhen: 30 August 2022. Doors open 6pm\, discussion starts 6.15 – 7.30pm. \nWhere: Ellen Melville Centre\, Freyberg Place\, Auckland City. \nIn-person and online. \nThis event is being run in person at the Ellen Melville Centre in Freyburg Place\, Auckland City and numbers are limited to 200. \nIt will also be available online. \nChose which ticket suits you best. \nThanks to Beam for supporting the Bike Champions Forum. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nShare with friends\nEventbrite link
