Morrinsville Cyclists to attend Rally for a Safer City Cycling

The organisers of Bikes for Life: Rally for a safer cycling city have received an address from Mayor Len Brown to be delived by Councillor Mike on behalf of the Mayor.

We are also honoured to learn that Roger Wolfe intends to attend the rally with other families from Morrinsville. Roger’s wife Kay Wolfe was one of  three Morrinsville cyclists who died following a crash when an on-coming car crossed the centreline. Roger will bring photos of the 3 cyclists to present at the rally.

The rally will be held at 11am- noon tomorrow, Sunday, 5 December on Queens Wharf. It has been organised by Cycle Action Auckland,  supported by Bike NZ, to call for increased funding from the national transport budget to improve cycling safety.

The funds are to required for –

  • Continuous arterial road cycle lanes in cities and shoulders on key rural roads.
  • Cycle training in schools and for adults who want to cycle for transport.
  • road safety campaign with fresh and specific messages for safe cycling and driving.
