Learn2Ride in Grey Lynn, Sundays in March

Bike Auckland

If you’ve got a kid who’s just getting the hang of two wheels, whether a balance bike or one with pedals, Bubs on Bikes is here to help with free Learn2Ride sessions for families. This month, the sessions will run on three Sundays in a row, in Grey Lynn Park near the Toddler Pool.

No need to register – just show up and BYO kid and bike (there will also be some bikes to borrow). Qualified instructors will be there to advise, check bikes, and give helpful and encouraging tips.

The sessions are generally aimed at kids from 1-5, but any kids who need a bit of a learning boost are of course welcome.

Littlies still too little to ride by themselves? Good news – there will also be demonstration models of baby and kid bike seats, so they can hitch a ride with you. It’s a lovely way to travel! See also: A Toddler is My Co-Pilot.

Also, local ‘bike burb’ group Bike Grey Lynn will be there on Sunday 20 March with giveaways, maps, and info about the current consultation on future bike paths and safer streets from Pt Chev to the city. If you’re local, you’ll want to check out Bike Grey Lynn’s page on Facebook to keep up with the latest in the area.

  • When: Sundays 6, 13, 20 March 2016, from 10 – 1
  • Where: Grey Lynn Park, next to the Playground and Toddlers Pool.
  • Check the Bubs on Bikes Facebook page for details and updates.

PS once the kids have got the hang of it, feel free to explore this great local ride through greenways and quiet streets – credit to the Grey Lynn Cycle Club Juniors for the map:
