Fencing and diversions on Northwestern Cycleway [Updated]

Traherne IslandGuest blog by Elizabeth Collins, Causeway Alliance

From Friday 23 August the Causeway Alliance will be starting to clear vegetation near the section of the cycleway/shared path between Te Atatu and Patiki Rd (opposite Traherne Island) between Rosebank Rd and Great North Rd (opposite Traherne Island). There will be no layout changes to the existing path on that section, but you are likely to notice the safety fence that will be set up beside the path. Some debris netting and/or traffic controllers (stop / go for cyclists) may be in place when we clear the vegetation immediately beside the cycleway. We will do our best to keep disruption to your ride to an absolute minimum.

Looking ahead to September… we will be creating a cycleway diversion in the same area opposite Traherne Island to allow access for more construction traffic. We’ll be prioritising your through-access. We know that you want to get to where you are going with minimal disruption and we’re keen for that to happen, too.

Thanks for your patience, and supportive comments for our guys operating the gates adjacent to the westbound on-ramp at the Great North Rd interchange. They’re chuffed with your wonderful feedback. It adds a spring to their step and a smile to their faces.

Best wishes,
Elizabeth
