Our Beginner Bike and Maintenance Drop-in Sessions are back for summer with sessions in Henderson, the Cloud, Mangere and Takapuna. This session will be happening at Takapuna Primary - park in the school's carpark and then head to the courts and look for the instructor team there. At the session there will be separate ‘learn to ride’ instruction for anyone who has never ridden a bike, while other participants will practice skills such as changing gears, braking, bike control, signalling and more. A mechanic will also be there to answer any maintenance questions including how to remove a wheel, how to adjust brakes and how to best look after a bike. The drop-in session is a flexible format where you can take part in cycle skills lessons, bike maintenance, or a little of both. Unable to stay for the full time? Learning to ride a two-wheeler is one of those big childhood milestones, and being a part of that experience as a parent is a thrill. However, if you are wondering how to get started – or experiencing a few bumps along the way –then check out the #Learn2Ride sessions. Auckland Transport's team of qualified instructors work alongside parents to get kids riding. Whether your child is starting on a balance bike or making the transition to pedals the team is there to help. If your child doesn't yet have a bike but is keen to give it a go, there will be bikes available on a limited basis. Sessions are weather dependent and run on a drop in basis, so come along and chat to our instructors, try out some different bike sizes and get those kids riding

Counties Cycle Classic – Pukekohe

The Counties Cycle Classic is organised by the Rotary Club of Pukekohe Inc and gives riders three options: 32km, 42km, or 88km course – with a special event for electric bikes too on the 32 km course. The race starts and finishes at Pukekohe Intermediate School and winds through picturesque Franklin countryside... the vegetable-growing capital of the country. Most of the course is on quiet country roads with little traffic, and stretches on the main road have plenty of room for cyclists.
