DESCRIPTION:This is the FINAL B&B Westside of 2019 – do not miss out! \nThis time\, we’re heading to Little Creatures in Hobsonville Point on Saturday 7 December. Note: we meet at the venue from 5.30pm; the guided ride to the venue sets off at 4:15pm. \nDisclaimer: please be responsible\, if you’re planning to drink a lot\, please use public transport instead. You are most welcome to come and talk bikes without your bike! \nGuided ride\nA guided group ride for Westies and/or cycle purists (i.e. no ferry) begins at 4:15pm at the Northwestern Shared Path – Te Atatu Underpass\, where the Northwestern Shared path goes under Te Atatu Rd. You can make your own way there and join the guided ride! \nNote that this ride will have a significant amount of on-road riding\, but we will go at the pace of the lowest rider. However\, we recommend a moderate fitness level and/or e-bike. See map below.  \nNote: the guided ride is one-way. If you’re not comfortable riding back alone\, please ask someone and they may be able to ride back with you. We often ride back together at the end of the event. \nIf you can’t join the guided ride\, feel free to make your own way there. Some of us should still be there until at least 9:00pm\, and the venue closes at 10:00pm. \nGetting there by ferry\nComing from downtown or further afield? DESCRIPTION:Want to build your bike community? Need to do more cycling marketing? The best way to get this done is by engaging other cyclists in fun events! \nCome to this workshop where we will quickly go over the basics of bike events\, then delve deep into what kind of event would work for you and your community! This workshop will be tailored to attendees\, so that everyone will leave with an event on their calendar. \nNumbers are limited so RSVP! \nLearn how to run successful bike events for your Bike Burbs through this workshop led by event producer and keen cyclist\, Xan Hamilton. A community builder and placemaker\, Xan has worked with schools in marginalised communities to create bike trains and cycling events in Portland Oregon\, engaging with local government\, schools and community groups. After moving to Waiheke\, she connected with an amazing tribe of cyclists and joined Cycle Action Waiheke\, continuing with events and advocacy on the island\, meeting with communities and schools to create a palate of varied cycling events. \nA three-hour gathering\, there will be time to meet your neighbours and strengthen your own connections\, while we brainstorm how to bring people together for cycling events in your Bike Burbs! \nThank you to Community Waitākere for the use of their co-working space in Henderson!
