If that’s you\, why not come down to the Silo Park Waterfront and try a variety of different cycles from recumbent cycles\, handcycles\, assist power-trikes to wheelchair bikes\, trailer options & more.\n\nThe TryaCycle Event will be held on Sunday 21 May from 11am till 4pm. There will be information on hand around grants to assist you in funding equipment. And/or take to the cycleways with cycles from the equipment loan that has been facilitated by Disability Sport Auckland and the Auckland Whānau Special Needs Support Group. We will have it all here onsite down at Silo Park Waterfront\, Jellicoe Harbour\, 34 Bridgham Street\, Auckland.\n\nNo registration required\, but it’s recommended to book a slot to try a cycle here https://grabyourwheels.nz/events/. Some of the cycles only get brought along if people have booked!\n\nA volunteer support person will be available to ride alongside you.\n\nIt’s smack bang in the heart of Auckland\, next to some wicked protected cycleways and shared paths. So\, even if you already own a hand-cycle\, recumbent\, bike trailer or trike come on down and join in the fun for our Open Day event. Bring your inclusive cycle and we’ll give you a complimentary hot drink voucher. We want to show Tāmaki Makaurau what inclusive cycling is all about.\n\nThere is plenty of parking around Silo Park (including mobility parks) with public accessible toilets close to the playground. SUMMARY:Christmas Lights Safari Ride
DESCRIPTION:This event is by Puketāpapa Active Transport Haven. Registration required. \nDetails\nDate: Saturday 20 December. Start 8:00pm – Finish approx 10:00pm.\nStart and finish at the Queens Wharf Bike Hub\, opposite the Ferry Terminal.\nRoute length: 7 km\nRecommended minimum rider age: 12 years. \n  \nRoute Description\nThis 7 km Christmas Lights Safari Ride takes you through the most festive parts of central Auckland. We begin at the Queens Wharf Bike Hub opposite the Ferry Terminal (near the Te Komititanga Christmas Tree)\, ride through the Viaduct’s Christmas Wonder Lane\, climb gently toward Freemans Bay\, and arrive at the highlight of the night: Franklin Road — one of New Zealand’s most iconic Christmas light displays. Riders will walk the Franklin Road section while bikes are supervised at the top. We then continue to Ponsonby Central for a hot chocolate or ice cream stop at the Chocolate Factory. From there\, the route heads along Ponsonby Rd\, K Rd\, drops back into the city\, passing through Aotea Square’s Christmas installation\, and finishes with a slow roll down the Queen Street Light Trail. \nSafety & Notes\n\nSome parts of the route use busy roads — parents should consider this before bringing younger children.\nRecommended minimum rider age: 12 years.\nEnsure your bike has good front and rear lights for night riding.\nReflective or bright clothing is strongly recommended.\nDecorate your bike with Christmas lights for fun and visibility.\nHelmets required by NZ law.\nRide pace will be relaxed with regular regroup points.\nFranklin Road will be walked\, not ridden — bikes will be supervised at the top.\nRide will proceed in light rain; severe weather may postpone for safety.\n\nPlease register by clicking here. Note for the 1st time we will be restricting numbers to 15 so as to ensure everyone has a good time in the downtown environment. If more register we will hold a 2nd ride on Sunday 21st.
