DESCRIPTION:Hey\, Pt Chev – let’s meet on the street!  \n“Here Comes the Sun” is a community play street event\, brought to you by Bike Pt Chev and Pt Chevalier School with support from neighbours and community groups. \nOn Friday 1 November from 8am to 8pm\, we’re transforming Te R? Road outside the primary school into an all-day car-free play space\, that’s closed to traffic and open for people. \nInspired by the international movements for School Streets and Play Streets\, we’re welcoming summertime by shining a light on how our streets can be healthy and happy places for people of all ages. \n8am – 9am: The fun begins before school\, with a wide open traffic-free street where children can play\, scoot and bike\, while parents and teachers share coffee and chat. \n9am – 3pm: During the school day\, Te R? Road will become an open-air classroom for fun and creative learning activities\, with visits from other schools\, kindergartens\, and community groups. \n3pm – 8pm: After school\, everyone’s invited to come and play! As afternoon rolls into evening\, the street fills with music and old-fashioned fun and games\, plus food trucks from 5pm – 8pm\, for a neighbourhood street party vibe until sunset. \n• Walk\, bike\, or scoot to the event\, and enjoy free and secure valet bike parking from 3pm.\n• Dine at the Auckland Food Truck Collective food trucks\, or bring a picnic dinner.\n• Visit the Bike Pt Chev info tent\, check out the Safe Kids driveway safety display\, and Auckland Transport will be on hand with info about upcoming streetscape projects.\n• We’ll have games and activities to share\, but feel free to bring your own\, too.\n• The event is smoke-free\, no alcohol and zero-waste\, for good clean fun. SUMMARY:Ride the Avondale to New Lynn shared path to Te Toi Uku/Crown Lynn clayworks museum for a tour/talk
DESCRIPTION:The Bike Owairaka Te Toi Uku/Crown Lynn Clayworks ride event is an easy\, safe cycle ride suitable for a range of people on bikes from confident riders to those who are a little bit rusty and somewhat hesitant about their skills. \nThe 9km (4.5km each way) ride will be led by Bike Owairaka (Jarvie Tunnicliffe and Jo Johnson) along the Avondale to New Lynn shared pathway from Alan Wood Park\, Bollard Avenue\, Owairaka to Te Toi Uku/Crown Lynn Clayworks museum at Ambrico Place.  There we will safely park up while enjoying a guided tour of the museum and its environs led by heritage consultant Robyn Mason. A community builder and placemaker\, Xan has worked with schools in marginalised communities to create bike trains and cycling events in Portland Oregon\, engaging with local government\, schools and community groups. After moving to Waiheke\, she connected with an amazing tribe of cyclists and joined Cycle Action Waiheke\, continuing with events and advocacy on the island\, meeting with communities and schools to create a varied palate of cycling events. \nA three-hour gathering\, there will be time to meet your neighbours and strengthen your own connections\, while we brainstorm how to bring people together for cycling events in your Bike Burbs!

Over the past year\, Dom has contributed in revitalizing the Mt Roskill bike community through the bike trains\, in addition to organising regular community bike events. \nA bike train is a group of students and adults who bicycle to school together\, making stops along a previously designated route to pick up other children en route to school. SUMMARY:Bike Ride and Picnic at Pt Erin
DESCRIPTION:Weather dependent! Check the Facebook event page on the day if in doubt.\n \n\n \nMeet at Sunhill Garden Centre at 11.00 and head down the shared path to Tamaki Drive. We will stop at Orakei Rd (11.15) and at Tamaki Drive (11.25) for people to join us. Ride the cycleway to the Viaduct and a short ride on the road to get us to the St Mary’s Bay path. We will stop at the end for a picnic lunch and retrace our wheel tracks home (with maybe a little diversion on the way)!\nBring picnic food\, drinks\, and a blanket or chair.\nThis is a casual\, slow\, no-drop ride for anyone who is able to confidently ride a 20km round trip. Kids welcome\, but you must be confident of their ability to ride the distance and ride safely. We will stop and regroup along the way.\n \nCaution: There will be tram tracks. Always cross them at an angle.

DESCRIPTION:Daylight saving is over. Time to dig out your bike lights and make sure you are seen.Dress up your bike and yourself and come for a ride along the shared path from Mission Bay to St Heliers and back.Meet 6.30pm at the clock tower. To make it a bit longer\, we will start by riding towards the Tamaki Yacht Club and turning around in the car park there.Afterwards we can either have a bite in Mission Bay or head into town.We want it to be a bike party\, showing people that you don’t have to take your car if you’re going out on a Saturday evening. It’s also a good chance to see what people are using to make themselves more visible at night and talk to others about their lighting.\nThe essentials are:\nYou need a bike and the attitude that you are going to enjoy yourself. Lights are essential. Everything else is optional.\nOptional stuff:\nA Bluetooth speaker and your favourite tunesA bike lit up like a Christmas treeAn outrageous costume\nHow it works:\nWe meet up at the start location and get organised and wait for any stragglers.Hop on our bikes and follow the leader towards town\, turn around at the Tamaki Yacht Club then head to St Heliers and ride back to the start. From there\, those with kids can head home and the rest of us do what we feel like.\n \nFAQ\nWhat does it cost? Zip\, zilch\, nada\, nothing.How long will it take? We will be riding slowly but the aim is to be back at the start by 8.00 pm at the latest.Can I leave any time? Yes\, head home whenever you feel like it.Is anything happening after? Nothing is organised\, but you can meet up with others going your way and carry on the party all the way home.Can I bring friends? Of course\, everyone is welcome.Can I bring my E-bike? Of course E-bikes are welcome.What’s the minimum age? There’s no minimum age but kids should be able confidently ride a bike the full distance. You can carry younger ones on a bike seat. You are responsible for your children\, this is not a drop and leave event.Will it be safe? Experienced riders will be at the front and back. The entire trail is off road and on sealed paths. Only two driveways to cross. There will be a small first aid kit available and also someone who can do basic bike repairs.Who is organising this and who is paying for it? The event is organised by a group of volunteers from Bike Eastern Suburbs\, and Bike East Auckland.What if it rains? If we’re going to cancel\, we will post on the Event page and Bike Eastern Suburbs Facebook page at around 4pm on the day.\nRules:\nWe try and keep rules to a minimum.1. Give way to all other path users.2. No alcohol – we want it kid friendly.3. Keep left and please don’t overtake the lead rider.4. There are a couple of driveways to cross in Mission Bay. You are responsible for looking out for cars crossing.5. Have fun\nNote: This is free\, volunteer run by the community. We accept no liability for anything outside our control.
