DESCRIPTION:Come join us on our Whānau Guided Bike Tours. Weekly on a Thursday from 5PM. It will be an easy\, relaxing way for the whānau to participate in a casual activity and to see some of our community via our waterways. \nOur excursion begins at The Ōtara Bike Burb (OBB) in the Ōtara Town Centre\, where our guides and road marshals will take you on an easy ride to Ngati Ōtara (approx 4kms or less) and back. \nHelmets are provided for your Tamariki and Rangatahi if you don’t have one. We also make sure everyone is familiar with the equipment and our safety protocol\, and set out to explore the area. \nWe’ll get a little exercise\, enjoy the fresh air\, and on return to the OBB we will enjoy some complimentary light refreshments. Dan’s been moving dancefloors for well over a decade – he’s played the country’s biggest festivals and dancefloors\, shared the DJ booth with some of dance music’s brightest stars\, and has even remixed the legendary Fatboy Slim.\n \nDan was scheduled to play our last Bike Rave in May\, but unfortunately was struck down by COVID at the last moment. DESCRIPTION:The Bike Owairaka Te Toi Uku/Crown Lynn Clayworks ride event is an easy\, safe cycle ride suitable for a range of people on bikes from confident riders to those who are a little bit rusty and somewhat hesitant about their skills. \nThe 9km (4.5km each way) ride will be led by Bike Owairaka (Jarvie Tunnicliffe and Jo Johnson) along the Avondale to New Lynn shared pathway from Alan Wood Park\, Bollard Avenue\, Owairaka to Te Toi Uku/Crown Lynn Clayworks museum at Ambrico Place.  There we will safely park up while enjoying a guided tour of the museum and its environs led by heritage consultant Robyn Mason. If that’s you\, why not come down to the Silo Park Waterfront and try a variety of different cycles from recumbent cycles\, handcycles\, assist power-trikes to wheelchair bikes\, trailer options & more.\n\nThe TryaCycle Event will be held on Sunday 21 May from 11am till 4pm. There will be information on hand around grants to assist you in funding equipment. And/or take to the cycleways with cycles from the equipment loan that has been facilitated by Disability Sport Auckland and the Auckland Whānau Special Needs Support Group. We will have it all here onsite down at Silo Park Waterfront\, Jellicoe Harbour\, 34 Bridgham Street\, Auckland.\n\nNo registration required\, but it’s recommended to book a slot to try a cycle here https://grabyourwheels.nz/events/. Some of the cycles only get brought along if people have booked!\n\nA volunteer support person will be available to ride alongside you.\n\nIt’s smack bang in the heart of Auckland\, next to some wicked protected cycleways and shared paths. Bring your inclusive cycle and we’ll give you a complimentary hot drink voucher. DESCRIPTION:Daylight saving is over. Time to dig out your bike lights and make sure you are seen.Dress up your bike and yourself and come for a ride along the shared path from Mission Bay to St Heliers and back.Meet 6.30pm at the clock tower. To make it a bit longer\, we will start by riding towards the Tamaki Yacht Club and turning around in the car park there.Afterwards we can either have a bite in Mission Bay or head into town.We want it to be a bike party\, showing people that you don’t have to take your car if you’re going out on a Saturday evening. It’s also a good chance to see what people are using to make themselves more visible at night and talk to others about their lighting.\nThe essentials are:\nYou need a bike and the attitude that you are going to enjoy yourself. Lights are essential. Everything else is optional.\nOptional stuff:\nA Bluetooth speaker and your favourite tunesA bike lit up like a Christmas treeAn outrageous costume\nHow it works:\nWe meet up at the start location and get organised and wait for any stragglers.Hop on our bikes and follow the leader towards town\, turn around at the Tamaki Yacht Club then head to St Heliers and ride back to the start. From there\, those with kids can head home and the rest of us do what we feel like.\n \nFAQ\nWhat does it cost? Zip\, zilch\, nada\, nothing.How long will it take? We will be riding slowly but the aim is to be back at the start by 8.00 pm at the latest.Can I leave any time? Yes\, head home whenever you feel like it.Is anything happening after? Nothing is organised\, but you can meet up with others going your way and carry on the party all the way home.Can I bring friends? Of course\, everyone is welcome.Can I bring my E-bike? Of course E-bikes are welcome.What’s the minimum age? There’s no minimum age but kids should be able confidently ride a bike the full distance. You can carry younger ones on a bike seat. You are responsible for your children\, this is not a drop and leave event.Will it be safe? Experienced riders will be at the front and back. The entire trail is off road and on sealed paths. Only two driveways to cross. There will be a small first aid kit available and also someone who can do basic bike repairs.Who is organising this and who is paying for it? The event is organised by a group of volunteers from Bike Eastern Suburbs\, and Bike East Auckland.What if it rains? If we’re going to cancel\, we will post on the Event page and Bike Eastern Suburbs Facebook page at around 4pm on the day.\nRules:\nWe try and keep rules to a minimum.1. DESCRIPTION:This event is by Cycle Action Waiheke. Registration required. \n  \nAre you mountain bike curious? Do you have a bike but don’t know how to get started trail-riding? Do you look longingly at the bush-clad hills of Onetangi Sports Park and wish you could get amongst it on two wheels? Mountain biking is so much fun – it’s great for physical and mental health\, gets you out into nature\, and is so exciting and exhilarating (NOT scary – unless you want it to be!). Come along to our Mountain Bike Sampler day at Onetangi Sports Park and give it a go with guidance from experienced riders. We’ll start with some basic skills on the field before hitting the Grade 1 Family Track for a couple of laps. Then we can break into two groups – those who want to head up the hill for something more adventurous can do so\, while those happy to keep practicing on the Family Track can stick with that. No one will be left behind or pressured to do anything they are not comfortable with. \nRiders of all ages are welcome. You will need a bike in reasonable condition (preferably with front suspension) and a helmet. And water! \nPlease make sure that you check your and your children’s bikes in advance\, and bring them to Bike Hub for maintenance if necessary. We can’t bring kids out with bikes that don’t work\, and don’t want to disappoint on the day!

DESCRIPTION:This event is by Puketāpapa Active Transport Haven and Bike Hub Mount Roskill. Registration required. \n  \nDetails. Saturday October 25th\, Start 9:00am Finish 12:00pm – Start at Molley Green Reserve close to the source of the Awa\, and finish at Waterview Reserve where the Awa empties into the Waitematā. \nRoute Description. This is a lovely 11km (one way) gentle ride on off road paths that will suit families and new riders. The ride will be fine for all levels of fitness. The suggestion for minimum rider age is 8 years. This route will be suitable for all types of bikes. \nOur guide and storyteller will be Wendy John\, Project Manager of Ngā Ringa o Te Auaunga – Friends of Oakley Creek established in 2004 to raise the profile of the Awa amongst the wider community\, and to increase recognition of the value and potential of Oakley Creek and its surrounds. We will stop at different points along the path where Wendy will tell us what has/will/might happen in that area. We will spend some time helping volunteers from Friends of Oakley Creek care for plants and trees that have recently been planted alongside the Awa. At the end of the ride\, there will be an opportunity for people to explore the Waterview Heritage Area. There will be an opportunity to make a koha to the mahi of Ngā Ringa o Te Auaunga – Friends of Oakley Creek. \nCoffee. The plan is to provide an after-ride coffee and light lunch nearby at Daily Bread\, will provide details closer to the time. A number of us will be riding back to Mt Roskill/Puketāpapa after lunch\, so if you plan to drive to the start\, you will have good company for the ride back. \nPlease note: While we have planned this ride very carefully\, responsibility for each person’s well-being is yours to manage. This is particularly the case with children. Each child must be accompanied by and be the responsibility of a caregiver. This ride is planned as a loop\, so if you need to be somewhere else before the suggested ending time\, you would need to plan your route if you were riding back early.
