More social than bike ride this time around. \nAs the end of the year draws near\, let’s come together and celebrate the community we’ve created together. \nLeaving Kingsland at 3:30pm\, we will ride to Te Atatu with all we need to prepare pizza\, adult slushies\, and quality sounds for an evening in the sun celebrating what we have created together. \nWe’re in safe hands with Matua Murupaenga (Ngāti Kuri) – pizza aficionado\, winemaker\, and great human\, driving the pizza oven. We’ll transport a pizza oven and all else needed to make our kai with us on cargo bike. If possible\, bring a plate and a cup so we can minimise waste. \nA koha to offset costs would be greatly appreciated\, but not necessary. $10\, or whatever you can afford. Bring cash on the day. \nIf you plan to attend\, please choose “Going” on our Facebook event so we can get an accurate idea on numbers. \nTHE ROUTE I About 15km / 100m to Te Atatu. DESCRIPTION:Join Climate Club Aotearoa for the internationally-acclaimed Climate Fresk workshop and find out how you can take climate action in your life and community. \nMake new connections and learn with others about the causes and consequences of climate change in a fun and participatory way\, and leave with a plan for how you can take action. We’ll be adding a bike-themed twist to the workshop\, with a focus on active transport actions for the climate. The Fresk workshop is backed by science and has been played by over 2 million people worldwide. Whether you are completely new to climate change or a veteran looking for a refreshing collaboration – you are welcome at this workshop. It’s free to attend and available to the public – the cards are in your hands! \nThis event will be held at the Flagship at 55 Madden Street\, at 6.00pm to 9.00pm\, Thursday the 16th of October. \nFood and snacks provided! \n“We loved the format of the Climate Fresk session as it didn’t leave us hanging at the ‘what’s happening for our planet’ stage\, but helped us identify actions that would really make a difference\,” Teresa Solomon\, kindergarten teacher and Fresk participant. \nClimate Club Aotearoa is a charity focused on helping everyday people take high-impact climate action. You’re still welcome to join the ride!\n*****\nBe at Bike Hub Grey Lynn (the northern end of Grey Lynn Park) from 7pm to decorate your bike\, have a go on the pump track\, and collect some sparkly freebies such as bike lights and retro-reflective backpack covers.\nOur beginner-friendly group ride will set off at 7.30pm. We’ll be sparkling through the greenways\, cruising briefly along quiet streets\, enjoying Meola Road cycleway\, and grooving around the Western Springs Lake to arrive at MOTAT by 8.15pm.\nThere is secure Bike Valet parking provided at MOTAT for this event\, so you can enjoy the lights worry-free.\n*******\nAbout the ride:\nThis is an ideal ride for kids\, beginner riders\, and riders who want to build their confidence in a fun\, social setting. It is reasonably short\, mostly flat\, and almost completely on shared paths\, and protected cycleways.
