DESCRIPTION:This event is by Got To Get Out. \n  \nHave you Got To Get A Bicycle\, to attend this years Biketober events & get out riding for summer? \n** Also if you have a bike to donate\, this would be a great time to rehome it to a good cause!** \nSocial enterprise Got To Get Out is displaying all of their recently refurbished bicycles on Saturday October 11th at the Wairau Zero Waste Hub\, located at 9 Porana Road\, Glenfield Auckland. \nBikes available on this day have been lovingly restored to the highest standards at the ‘Got To Get Out Workshop’ @ Wairau Zero Waste Hub\, with thanks to volunteers from the local community. \nGTGO founder Robert Bruce and helpers will help you and/or your family choose the perfect size bike for your needs\, and budget. \nOn show will be a range of kids bikes\, adult bikes\, commuter\, road and mountain bikes ready for test riding and buying. \nPrice range from $40 (kids bike) to around $300. DESCRIPTION:This event is by Franklin Active Trails. \nA choice of two simultaneous bike rides along and beyond the freshly opened Te Ara O Puuriri Trail. Routes will be available on the day and via Ride with GPS links. Both options include unsealed trail sections however most is on quiet sealed roads. If you are a big fan of MTB trails you can include an extension of incorporating the Puni MTB circuit through the pines adding a further 5km to the journey. \nWhen: Sunday Oct 12th\, 8.00am \nWhere Start:  Bledisloe Park\, Johns St by playground and soccer clubrooms.  \nWhere Finish: Your Local Coffee Roasters Pukekohe\, Cnr Nelson & Manukau Rd \nOption 1: 1 Summit 11 Km Circuit west to Te Ara O Puuriri\, (Summit Adams Rd South\, Belmont) \nOption 2: 3 Summits 17 – 20 Km circuit. West to Te Ara O Puuriri\, South to Puni Reserve Summit\, Attewell Rd\, east to Pukekohe Hill Summit\, downhill to Local Coffee Roasters. \n \nHealth & Safety\n\nWear high visibility clothing. (We are riding on trails and quieter roads but there are several busy main roads to cross).\nAll children under the age of 14 must be supervised by an adult\nAll people taking part in this ride do so at their own risk\, will ride independently and will not be supervised or guided.\n\n \nBackground\nTe Ara Puuriri starts at the top of one of the Pukekohe 5 Summits established by Pukekohe Tramping Club as part of their 50th celebrations. Franklin Active Trails and Whakaupoko Landcare have built on this initiative. A forgotten weedy and pesty woolly nightshade forest has been converted into a puriri forest with fun walking and cycle trails\, offering a circuit connection with the Pukekohe 5 Summits and a link to the 6th summit of Puni Reserve. \nCome and check it out. \nRead some further background about the trail here. \n \nA note about getting there from the Auckland City Centre:\nThe start point is just 500m from the Pukekohe Railway Station. There is a train that arrives at Pukekohe at 7.44am. The train starts at down town Auckland Waitemata Stn at 6.30am. Return Trains leave at 20 minute intervals.

DESCRIPTION:To mark Biketober\, Link Alliance are inviting members of the bike community to join a special perimeter tour of Karanga-a-Hape Station\, one of the new City Rail Link stations designed to be friendly for both rail and bike users. \nThese tours give you the chance to see what’s happening and understand how our work is progressing. \nAll tours begin outside the Northern Line Pub at 4 Beresford Square\, just around the corner from Karangahape Road and Pitt Street. This tour will start at 5pm and take approximately one hour. Please arrive five minutes before the start time. \nThese tours will not enter the construction site\, so no special clothing is required – but please wear closed\, flat footwear and sun protection. Tours will be cancelled if weather conditions are unfavourable (please keep an eye on your email). \nThe City Rail Link is cycle-friendly – you can take your bike on the train\, and each new station includes dedicated bike racks near its entrances. Unfortunately\, Karanga-a-Hape Station’s bike racks are currently inside an active worksite and not yet available. In the meantime\, please see the bike-parking map for nearby racks (Pitt St rack not available). \n \nTour dates are below. Whether you are completely new to climate change or a veteran looking for a refreshing collaboration – you are welcome at this workshop. It’s free to attend and available to the public – the cards are in your hands! \nThis event will be held at the Flagship at 55 Madden Street\, at 6.00pm to 9.00pm\, Thursday the 16th of October. \nFood and snacks provided! \n“We loved the format of the Climate Fresk session as it didn’t leave us hanging at the ‘what’s happening for our planet’ stage\, but helped us identify actions that would really make a difference\,” Teresa Solomon\, kindergarten teacher and Fresk participant. \nClimate Club Aotearoa is a charity focused on helping everyday people take high-impact climate action. You’ll be finding your way to the Ostend Market by bike\, solving puzzles and conundrums along the way. This is a free\, family-oriented school holiday event. We’ll have spot prizes – and heaps of fun! \nAs always\, get to Bike Hub leading up to the event if you need help with a quick bike fix\, and the mechanics will assist you in learning how to do it yourself! \nAll ages\, but all kids need to bring their parents/caregivers\, no drop-offs. \n

SUMMARY:TryaCycle in Manurewa
DESCRIPTION:This event is organised in partnership with Bike Auckland\, Cycling NZ\, Blind Sport NZ\, and Beautification Trust’s Manurewa Bike Hub\, and hosted by the Manurewa Table Tennis Club. \nHop on for a day of FREE adaptive cycling fun! Everyone is welcome to come and explore all kinds of bikes such as handcycles\, recumbent bikes\, trikes\, tandems and more in a welcoming\, inclusive environment. \n \nThere will be workshops to teach you how to ride a tandem cycle. Cycling NZ\, and Blind Sport NZ\, with support from BLENNZ\, will be running the workshops to explain how to be the pilot (rider at the front)\, how to be the stoker (rider at the back). This will include communication skills\, routes to use\, and information on Tandem Cycling as a high performance sport. SUMMARY:Fish Bike Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Event by Bike Eastern Suburbs. RSVP required as numbers are strictly limited! \n  \nCome and turn your bike into a fish! \nThis fun\, free three-hour workshop you will cut out\, assemble\, fit and decorate a cardboard fish head for your bike. We may not have time for everything to dry\, but you will have something you can take home. \nMade from recycled cardboard and foam\, the heads are custom made for each bike and can be quickly fitted and removed. \nThe workshop is at Sunhill Garden Centre Markets\, St Johns Rd from 9.00 to 12.00. \nWe will be using sharp knives and very sticky glue so it’s a workshop for bigger kids and adults (12+). Smaller kids can come but need to be one on one supervised by an adult. The venue is small so numbers are strictly limited. \nThis is our first time running the event\, if it’s successful we could have more sessions so let us know. \nThe venue is in the Sunhill Market so there will be food and drinks you can purchase on site or you can bring your own drinks and snacks. \nEntry is free thanks to sponsorship by Bike Auckland but koha towards costs would be appreciated. \nWhat do I need to bring?\nA bike\nDrinks\, snacks (if needed)\nA sense of fun \n  \nRSVP required as numbers are strictly limited!
