DESCRIPTION:Join us for the most fun you can have on two wheels – a bike rave featuring the one and only King Kapisi! \nWe’ll be dressing up in our wildest costumes\, strapping soundsystems to our bikes\, and taking a sunset cruise along the flash new Southern Bike Path\, ending up at a silent disco rave in a tennis court\, where King Kapisi will get the party started with a mash-up of dance music\, MC’ing and hip hop. \nThe party starts with a full noise 40 minute ride on the brand spanking Southern Bike Path\, with a short section of suburban road riding just before we roll into the rave. \nHere we’ll park up at the tennis courts where the team at Bike Auckland will treat us to valet bike parking while we party. \nBike Rave is alcohol free and designed for the whole whānau\, there’ll be complimentary fruit and Club Mate to power us through the rave. \nPresented by Bike Auckland\, Auckland Transport and Interesting Things\, the Southern Bike Path Bike Rave helps to get our community out and about and enjoying the new Southern Bike Path. \n  \nRave times look like this: \n3:00pm: Registration at the start location: cnr. THE TEAM WILL FIX IT UP AND ENSURE IT FINDS A NEW HOME WHERE IT IS NEEDED\n\n\n\n• RECOVERING AND FIXING UP OLD BIKES (SOURCED VARIOUSLY FROM THE COMMUNITY RECYCLING NETWORK\, INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS\, AND THE EXISTING STOCK FROM BIKES FOR REFUGEES)\n\n\n\nThe Bike Kitchen is a community bike project that brings the beloved Bikes for Refugees programme to a new home in Mt Roskill/ Puketāpapa – and combines forces with an existing programme at RYZ: Roskill Youth Zone\, whose bike workshops for youth will continue alongside the monthly (4th) Saturday and 2nd Wednesday evening fix-it days.\n\n\nThe Bike Kitchen is currently led by PATH and supported by Global Missions\, Auckland Transport\, and the Puketāpapa Local Board.\n\n\nYou’ll find the permanent Bike Kitchen container located on the grounds of Roskill Youth Zone/Wesley community centre\, 740 Sandringham Rd Extn\, Mt Roskill\, Auckland.\n\n\nThere are many ways to get involved. There’s no such thing as too many cooks at the Bike Kitchen – in fact\, you might say “many hands make a bike work!”

DESCRIPTION:To celebrate Matariki and the fresh new look of Karangahape Road\, everyone is invited to attend Te Karanga ā Hape on Saturday 26 June – a progressive street party that features a fulsome programme of music\, art\, performance\, fashion\, workshops\, activations\, installations\, food and fantastic entertainment!\nThrough the theme of Te Ao Mārama / The Enlightened World\, we acknowledge the Matariki star cluster\, as well as the 1930s community project that first lit the strip with electric lighting\, and the colourful and inclusive vibrancy of the Karangahape Road we love today.\nTe Karanga ā Hape calls people to experience the bountiful sights\, sounds\, tastes and feelings that are unique to K’ Road. From 3pm\, the street will light up with live music across multiple stages\, outdoor screenings and indoor exhibitions\, Matariki markets\, free kai and fusion boil-ups\, fashion installations in shop windows\, fresh street art on Poynton Terrace\, free workshops and walking tours\, bicycle valets and guided rides\, plus a smorgasbord of special offers from locals shops and restaurants. With sunset scheduled for 5.15pm\, the celebrations will be lit well into the evening!\nA Matariki hub\, with a kaupapa inviting creatives into an interactive space to share their skills\, will be set up at 211 Karangahape Road. From Thursday 24 June to Saturday 10 July\, this public space will host a photographic exhibition alongside a series of wānanga and creative workshops.\nFollow the lights or chase the whai along the length of Karangahape Road\, around the top of Pitt Street and over the ridge to Cross Street.
