DESCRIPTION:On Monday the 9th of July the K’ Road Business Association is extremely excited to bring you: \nFrom a Trickle to a Stream: Achieving a Major Bike Mode Shift in Canada\nA discussion with Dale Bracewell\n\n*Pre-event nibbles and drinks at the Station Bar from 5:00pm. Event starts at 6pm*\nCycling is one of the fast growing modes of transport throughout the world\, and Canada has been a leader in developing cycling infrastructure in new world cities. Montréal kicked this off by developing protected cycleway networks 30 years ago\, while English-speaking Canada followed decades later.\nA variety of approaches have been taken\, from the Calgary Cycle Track Pilot and the Edmonton fast implementation of an ‘adaptable permanent’ downtown cycleway grid\, both of which delivered downtown protected cycleway networks very quickly. Vancouver and Victoria took a more traditional approach of developing connected downtown protected cycleway networks one street at a time as permanent installations.\nDale Bracewell was the Active Transportation Manager at the City of Vancouver (now the Transportation Planning Manager) and played an integral part in this transformation. Dale will be talking to the K’ Road community about cycling in Canadian cities with a focus on the engagement journey with the community\, businesses and other stakeholders.\nEveryone welcome who’s interested in how cities get from here to there. DESCRIPTION:Bike Kaipatiki’s Pop-up Bike Hub is coming to Northcote Town Centre for September and October! \nWe’ll have a range of routine activities like free maintenance\, guided rides\, information and freebees. Additionally keep an eye on our Bike Kaipatiki Facebook page and our website for events being run from the hub. \nActivities will include: \n* Drop in bike safety checks and tune-ups\n* Borrow bikes\n* Donate bikes you no longer use and Bike Kaipatiki will service them and donate them to organisations who can get them to those who need and will use them\n* Join us for guided rides. \nSPECIAL EVENT – SATURDAY 22 SEPTEMBER! \n* Bling your bike on Saturday 22nd of September and join us for a night ride along the Northcote Safe Cycle Route from 6:30pm to show off those lights! Safe for all ages and abilities.\n* 9am – 3pm swing by the container to decorate your bike with free ribbons and lights\n* 6.30pm gather at the container to get ready to ride\n* 7-9pm a guided night ride along the route! \nMORE ABOUT THE POP-UP BIKE HUB \nThe Bike Kaipatiki Pop-up Bike Hub is in the Northcote Town Centre. \nThere will be something happening at the Hub between 10am and 4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week from the 11th of September to the end of October. \nThe hub will be active most Saturdays between 9am and 3pm (though we don’t plan to be open on the Saturday of Labour Weekend\, October 22nd). \n\nMost days\, we will be taking donated bikes to repair and gift out into the community\, offering free safety checks and basic maintenance\, information and more. Thanks to our friends at AT we also have bike bells\, trouser straps\, maps and other goodies to give away. \nIf you’re in the town centre\, regardless of how you got there\, do pop in and say hi!

SUMMARY:Pukekohe Raceway Kids' Obstacle Duathlon
DESCRIPTION:The Pukekohe Raceway Kids Obstacle Duathlon is a fun and safe event that encourages students from primary and intermediate schools to challenge themselves and enjoy the thrill of competing in a Duathlon. \nRace on the Pukekohe Raceway Track in this event\, composed of a run\, a bike ride\, and an obstacle course. \nOpen to Years 3 – 8 (with Year 3 & 4 combined). Children can compete in categories according to school year and gender\, in individual or two-person teams. Participants are encouraged to compete in your school sports uniform and represent your school. \nEveryone who finishes receives a medal!
