We’ll be seeking member approval for the new constitution\, which will be shared with you in advance of this meeting. \nIn addition\, we’d like to benefit from having members together to discuss Bike Auckland’s strategic plan. The majority of the afternoon will be devoted to this insightful discussion of our strategy – I can’t wait to hear directly from members on this topic. We’ll be hosting regular bike repair days to rescue bikes from the waste stream and get them back into the community. \nThese bikes will then be donated to our community partners who help people in need. \nJoin us on the 3rd Saturday of every month (except December and January) from 9am to 1pm! \nWhile public servicing isn’t available on these days\, we encourage everyone to come down and see what we’re doing. We also welcome volunteers of all skill levels to lend a hand! It’s a great opportunity to learn new skills and gain experience fixing bikes. \nNo pressure to stay the whole time\, and you don’t need to attend every month. \nFeel free to pop in for a bit or the whole session\, and come whenever you’re available. \nHave questions? \nPlease reach out to us and we’ll be happy to chat! \nLet’s work together to reduce waste and get more people on bikes!

Put on your gumboots and let’s turn this area into thriving stream habitat.\n \nThe place we’re planting is located just past where the Waitahurangi Stream meets the Whau Stream\, and they come together to form the Whau Awa.\n \nThe plants you put in the ground will be enjoyed by native birds and critters\, as well as bike-riders and walkers passing through the New Lynn to Avondale shared path each day.\n \nWe’ll finish with a BBQ together from 12pm.\n \nKids welcome but must be supervised. Wear gumboots or sturdy closed-toe shoes\, and bring your rain jacket and gardening gloves if you have any.\n \nAccess through the back gate of the Daily Bread site – a 2-minute bike ride or 12-minute walk from New Lynn Transport Centre. DESCRIPTION:Hello friends\, our next ride will be a great opportunity to immerse yourselves in the beauty of the Manukau Harbour. As per the normal instructions\, please be prepared for weather\, it is winter. Unless the weather is so bad there is a health and safety risk\, we will be riding. \nStart/Finish will be at the Bikehub next to the Onehunga Train Station. So all being well\, you will be able to catch a train to and from the event.  \nTiming: We will start riding at 10:00am\, we should be back in Onehunga before midday. \nWhat kind of bike: You do not have to have an eBike for this ride\, it is around a 25km ride\, with few hills. We will be riding on gravel roads along the Watercare Coastal Walkway and the grass walking paths around the harbour edge of the Ambury Regional Park. There is a gravel road around the south side of Puketutu Island that will take us to a lookout point west toward the Manukau Heads. \nRoute: About three quarters of the route will be on off road shared paths. We start by riding across the new walking and cycling bridge\, Ngā Hau Māngere then along the Kiwi Esplanade to Ambury Farm. The route around the edge of the farm can be bumpy in places\, but you will be amazed that you can be out in the peaceful midst of the Manukau Harbour so close to the city. The Watercare Coastal Walkway offers excellent birdwatching\, especially for shorebirds wintering in the Manukau Harbour. Look for South Island pied oystercatchers\, wrybills\, New Zealand dotterels\, and pied stilts. The Book Factory – a high-energy\, temporary publishing house where you make the book from start to finish – created by Marcus McShane and 5ever books\, takes that energy and transforms it into something raw\, real\, and uniquely yours. \nEvery half hour\, human energy\, bicycle power and printed matter are transformed into the latest proof. Be part of our creative powerhouse in Aotea Square over the course of AWF and have a go at writing\, editing\, drawing\, printing or pedalling your way to producing one-of-a-kind books\, all completely people powered! \nAll Festival-goers\, whatever their age\, publishing or pedalling(!) experience are welcome to join in; and you can be part of the ‘Factory’ for however long you fancy.

SUMMARY:A New Light- a bike-bound projection to celebrate Auckland Writers Festival
DESCRIPTION:From filing through the city on early Festival mornings with the fizz of anticipation for what’s ahead; to the satisfied journey home at the end of each day\, filled with new ideas\, stories and connections\, the Festival sets in motion a beautiful reverberation of words and fresh perspectives throughout the city. \nTo celebrate the city of stories that Tāmaki becomes during Auckland Writers Festival\, cycle or walk behind award-winning designer Marcus McShane as he weaves his bike-bound projector through the city’s streets and alleyways\, casting on to its architecture Festival writers’ words that capture the beauty of daybreak and nightfall\, each Festival day. \n*This is a cycle-led projection route around the inner city that can be followed at walking pace. The full route will last about 1 hour\, and attendees are welcome to join for its entirety\, or drop in/out. \nNote: The cycle-led projections take place in a loop through the CBD at 6.45am and 5.10pm each day of the public programme.
