DESCRIPTION:Join us for a whānau friendly cycle to the beach!\nMeet us at Bike Hub Queen’s Wharf with your beach gear and your bike! \n*****\nThis is an ideal ride for people who want to build their cycling confidence in a fun\, social setting. All bodies and all bikes are welcome. \nFrom 10.00am\, join us at Bike Hub Queen’s Wharf. The hub will be open for bike checks and second hand bike sales. \nOur beginner-friendly group ride will begin with a casual meander up Queen Street. We will be riding on a mixture of shared pathways\, quiet streets\, and protected cycleways\, including the new Great North Road cycleway and a half-way stop at Grey Lynn Park pump track. You can see the route here. \nWe will be cycling at a social\, easy pace. The 10km route includes some hilly sections. We will have rest stops at the top of the hills\, making sure everyone is ready to go before we set off again. \nOnce we arrive at the beach we’ll park up with the free secure bike valet parking so we can enjoy our beach time worry-free. You are welcome to split off and do your own thing once we arrive. A series of four easy\, whānau-friendly rides\, starting on Sunday\, 1 February. Each ride is about enjoying time together\, building confidence on bikes\, and discovering safe\, family-friendly ways to get around Māngere Bridge by bike. \nWe’ll ride at a relaxed pace\, with plenty of time to look around\, have fun\, and learn practical tips for cycling with kids. This includes route choice\, crossing points\, riding etiquette\, and sharing paths with others. These rides are perfect for families\, kids\, beginners\, and anyone getting back on a bike. \nEveryone is welcome\, and nobody gets left behind. The journey is the fun part. At the end of each ride\, we’ll enjoy free refreshments and a relaxed chance to ask bike-related questions or get to know your local cycling neighbours. \nPlease bring your own bike and helmet (safety first). E-bikes are welcome\, but the pace will suit regular bikes. SUMMARY:Hunua Ranges Regional Park River Loop Safari Ride
DESCRIPTION:This ride is quite different from our usual city-based safari routes. Instead of bike paths\, neighbourhood streets\, and urban corners\, we’ll be riding through one of the closest true forest environments to Auckland. The Hunua Ranges offer deep valleys\, native bush\, open river flats\, and peaceful gravel roads with no vehicle traffic. You will not need a mountain bike; the route is mainly light gravel so you might not be comfortable on a racing bike. Don’t worry if you are not used to gravel riding\, we will be going slowly and carefully. The Hunua River Loop is a scenic gravel and bush-edge circuit following the Mangatāwhiri Stream through the heart of the Hunua Ranges. The loop includes flat valley riding\, shaded bush sections\, and gentle climbs with views back across the river. Total distance is approximately 10–12 km\, taking 90–120 minutes at a relaxed safari pace. \nRegistration is required – please review the full details and register on this link.

DESCRIPTION:This event is by Puketāpapa Active Transport Haven. Registration required. \nDetails\nDate: Saturday 20 December. Start 8:00pm – Finish approx 10:00pm.\nStart and finish at the Queens Wharf Bike Hub\, opposite the Ferry Terminal.\nRoute length: 7 km\nRecommended minimum rider age: 12 years. \n  \nRoute Description\nThis 7 km Christmas Lights Safari Ride takes you through the most festive parts of central Auckland. We begin at the Queens Wharf Bike Hub opposite the Ferry Terminal (near the Te Komititanga Christmas Tree)\, ride through the Viaduct’s Christmas Wonder Lane\, climb gently toward Freemans Bay\, and arrive at the highlight of the night: Franklin Road — one of New Zealand’s most iconic Christmas light displays. Riders will walk the Franklin Road section while bikes are supervised at the top. We then continue to Ponsonby Central for a hot chocolate or ice cream stop at the Chocolate Factory. From there\, the route heads along Ponsonby Rd\, K Rd\, drops back into the city\, passing through Aotea Square’s Christmas installation\, and finishes with a slow roll down the Queen Street Light Trail. \nSafety & Notes\n\nSome parts of the route use busy roads — parents should consider this before bringing younger children.\nRecommended minimum rider age: 12 years.\nEnsure your bike has good front and rear lights for night riding.\nReflective or bright clothing is strongly recommended.\nDecorate your bike with Christmas lights for fun and visibility.\nHelmets required by NZ law.\nRide pace will be relaxed with regular regroup points.\nFranklin Road will be walked\, not ridden — bikes will be supervised at the top.\nRide will proceed in light rain; severe weather may postpone for safety.\n\nPlease register by clicking here. DESCRIPTION:Join Bike Hub Grey Lynn for a Sparkly Night Ride to the MOTAT Christmas Lights!\nBling up your bike with Christmas lights\, get dressed up in theme\, grab your MOTAT Christmas Lights tickets\, and meet us at Bike Hub Grey Lynn for a family-friendly sparkly ride through beautiful greenways to the MOTAT Christmas Lights.\nNot going to the lights? You’re still welcome to join the ride!\n*****\nBe at Bike Hub Grey Lynn (the northern end of Grey Lynn Park) from 7pm to decorate your bike\, have a go on the pump track\, and collect some sparkly freebies such as bike lights and retro-reflective backpack covers.\nOur beginner-friendly group ride will set off at 7.30pm. We’ll be sparkling through the greenways\, cruising briefly along quiet streets\, enjoying Meola Road cycleway\, and grooving around the Western Springs Lake to arrive at MOTAT by 8.15pm.\nThere is secure Bike Valet parking provided at MOTAT for this event\, so you can enjoy the lights worry-free.\n*******\nAbout the ride:\nThis is an ideal ride for kids\, beginner riders\, and riders who want to build their confidence in a fun\, social setting. It is reasonably short\, mostly flat\, and almost completely on shared paths\, and protected cycleways. SUMMARY:Celebrate 10 years of the Lightpath 8am Ride
DESCRIPTION:Join us to ride Te Ara I Whiti on its tenth anniversary.\nTe Ara I Whiti\, the Lightpath was a bold idea to repurpose a disused motorway off-ramp and  turn it into a path for people. Without the early spark and persuasive energy of Bike Auckland’s Max Robitzsch and Barb Cuthbert\, it might still be an unrealised concept. Now this glowing pink ribbon with incredible views is a joyful\, iconic part of our city\, and a cornerstone of the growing network which connects more Aucklanders to where they want to go. \nThe path opened on 3rd December 2015\, after being constructed in a remarkable 9 months from idea to opening. \nFast forward ten years\, and we want to mark this milestone with all of you! Please join us for a celebratory event on the morning of Wednesday 3 December. \nWe are looking for keen riders to help us mark the occasion\nIf you plan on coming along on your bike to ride the path with us for a photo opportunity\, please register your attendance as soon as possible. This allows us to send out any useful info close to the time. \nMeet outside the Electric Bike Team shop by the Canada St end of the path at 8am. We’ll set off soon after. The more the merrier\, so bring a friend and let’s make this big! \nThose on foot\, on scooters\, in wheelchairs\, etc. are all welcome. \nWe look forward to marking the moment with you.

DESCRIPTION:This event is by Puketāpapa Active Transport Haven. Registration required. \nHello friends\, another ride is coming up! Looking forward to seeing you all! \nDetails. Saturday November 22nd\, Start 9:00am Finish 12:00pm – Start and finish at the Grey Lynn Park Bike Hub\, Dryden Street entrance (next to the pump track)\, Grey Lynn. \nRoute Description. This ride takes you through some beautiful reserves in Grey Lynn and on great new cycle paths in Point Chevalier. It is a relaxed 10 km loop mostly off-road with some short sections on roads. Suitable for any style of bicycle. Recommended minimum rider age is 12 years. We’ll ride at a comfortable pace to suit riders on non-electric bikes\, with regular regroup points. \nRoute Highlights & Stops \n\n\nHakanoa Reserve and Wetland – boardwalk and native planting. \n\n\nCox’s Bay Esplanade and Cox’s Bay Reserve – harbour views and tidal inlets. \n\n\nNew protected cycle paths on Meola Road and Point Chevalier Road. \n\n\nWestern Springs Park – lakeside birdlife. \n\n\nGreat North Road – near‑complete bike paths; we will take extra care through the work areas. \n\n\nReturn via Dryden Street entrance into Grey Lynn Park and the Bike Hub. \n\n\nSafety & Notes \n\n\nShort on‑road sections require rider confidence in light traffic; we will help you manage intersections. \n\n\nPlease bring water\, sunscreen\, and a rain layer.
