Over the past year\, Dom has contributed in revitalizing the Mt Roskill bike community through the bike trains\, in addition to organising regular community bike events. \nA bike train is a group of students and adults who bicycle to school together\, making stops along a previously designated route to pick up other children en route to school. It’s a really fun way to start off the morning\, and a great way to get kids and parents on bikes! \nThis will be a facilitated workshop so that we can get some real ideas and inspiration on paper! DESCRIPTION:Sunday 17 November is World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims. \nTo commemorate this sobering day\, Bike Auckland is installing an art installation of 59 white-painted ghost bikes in St Patrick’s Square. 59 is the number of people who have died while riding bikes on the road in the last 5 years in Aotearoa NZ. \nThis installation draws attention to the deaths and serious injuries that will be the result of reversing the safer speeds laws (increasing road speed back to 50km/h in many areas where it was reduced to 30km for safety reasons). \nCome along and pay your respects. DESCRIPTION:Join us at our Annual General Meeting on Sunday 17 November in Parnell. \nBike Auckland members and supporters are warmly invited to our Annual General Meeting (AGM)\, which not only takes care of key business\, but also famously highlights the year’s most exciting developments for people on bikes and gives you a peek of what’s on the horizon. We will have presentations from our Chair\, Karen Hormann as well as key committee members and the wider Bike Auckland whānau. \nBike racks will be set up in a carpark in the carparking area behind the building. Please bring your own lock. \nPlease register to attend the AGM to assist us with our planning and communication. \nWe encourage supporters to take a few minutes on their way to the AGM to take in the Ghost Bike art demonstration at St Patrick’s Cathedral Square for World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. 59 ghost bikes represent the number of people who have died while riding bikes on the road in the last 5 years in Aotearoa NZ. This installation also raises awareness of the future deaths and serious injuries which are predicted from the increase of speed limits in Aotearoa New Zealand. \nThe AGM will be followed by a gentle group ride.  The ride is about 9.5km (similar to last year’s ride) and it’s mainly downhill or on the flat\, mostly on protected bike lanes\, shared paths and quiet streets. It is suitable for e-bikes and non e-bikes. Suitable for adults of all abilities. Small children will do best carried on an adult’s bike. \nThe ride concludes at Good George North Wharf in Wynyard Quarter where we look forward to raising a glass with supporters to a year of sustained and effective mahi (work). \nAccessibility \nThe AGM venue at Jubilee Hall is accessible and has a ramp just along the side with a reserved carpark at the start of the ramp.

We’d recommend this ride for adults and confident kids aged 10 and up. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Music\, Cycling & Connected Communities\nThe Henderson Music Trail\, a free community event\, will bring music and art to Henderson’s bike paths. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpanning two kilometres\, this unique festival showcases the area’s vibrant arts and culture while celebrating Bike Month. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDesigned to be accessed by bike\, scooter\, or on foot\, the Henderson Music Trail will feature three music locations\, as well as roving performers along the route. People will also have the opportunity to engage in various bike-related activities\, including an antique and unusual heritage bike display\, an art workshop\, and much more. \nHighlights Include: \n\nLive Music Performances:\nEnjoy a variety of performances from Hopetoun Brown\, Huia\, The Saxobros\, Goodspace\, Auckland Philharmonia Aspiring Musicians and more.\nCycling-Themed Art Workshop:\nJoin Kakano Youth Arts Collective for a fun and interactive art-making workshop inspired by the theme of cycling.\nHeritage Bike Display:\nExplore a heritage bike display courtesy of The Bicycle Chap at The Alderman\nRoving Performers:\nSurprise performances scattered along the trail throughout the day.\nSustainability & Community:\nHear about the exciting projects happening in Henderson from local community organisations.\nPicnic spots and cafes:\nExplore our lush parks for picnic spots or grab a bite at a cafe – both The Alderman and the Coffee Studio\, the on-site cafe at Corban Estate Arts Centre\, will be open for lunch and snacks.\n\nPresenting partner Eke Panuku Development Auckland is dedicated to transforming and revitalising urban spaces like Henderson\, making them more accessible\, connected\, and sustainable. DESCRIPTION:Pride Ride: Journey on the Rainbow Path Join us for Pride Ride: Journey on the Rainbow Path\, a vibrant and inclusive bike ride that celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community. This fun and welcoming event is open to everyone\, whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or new to biking. It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together\, show support for diversity\, and ride in solidarity for a more inclusive future. \nThe event kicks off at the Wesley Community Centre and follows a scenic route towards the Rainbow Path\, located at the corner of Great North Road and Carrington Road. As we ride through the streets\, participants will experience the energy and unity of the LGBTQIA+ community\, proudly wearing rainbow colours and helmets. Upon return\, we’ll gather for a relaxed social event featuring a sausage sizzle and ice blocks available for a gold coin donation. \nAll proceeds will support our rainbow rangatahi in Puketāpapa\, ensuring that young members of the LGBTQIA+ community have the resources and support they need. This is more than just a bike ride; it’s a celebration of pride\, love\, and acceptance. So\, put on your brightest colours\, gear up with your helmets\, and ride with pride! \nPlease note – Riders must be confident to ride at least 10km on the day.\nThe whole route is along shared walk/bike paths.
