SUMMARY:Real Adventure Trail Ride - Join in the Mystery (Mtb)
DESCRIPTION:1. Does the idea of the unknown excite you?\n2. Do you like the feel of being a maverick on a journey?\n3. Are you sick of the “same old” challenges each weekend and just looking for something a little bit different to break out of the norm?\n4. Are you intrigued by the prospect of riding bike trails others might not agree follow contemporary expectations? \nIf you answered YES then these rides might be for you! \nThese mystery rides are for capable riders who like to ride old school trails that aren’t seriously groomed or sculptured to within an inch of their flow riding lives. \nThis is real riding where you need to make your flow happen with your skill because the trails don’t just give it to you because you point the bike downhill. \nIf you love a challenge then join us for some fun exhilarating times. \nWHO’S IT FOR\nRiders who like a bit of off camber trail\, who enjoy tight twisty technical terrain with obstacles to conquer and don’t mind exerting a bit of energy\, or getting dirty (some mud is possible)\, or really using their brains when riding. \nDon’t expect massive sustained gravity descents\, but do be ready to see your up and down riding skills tested at every turn in the variable terrain that’s going to be on offer – plus expect your handling skills to grow exponentially as a result. \nTHE TRAILS\nThe trails we’ll ride may or may not be ridden on a lot these days for a variety of reasons…. which means they could be a little overgrown in places\, but they are definitely bike orientated trails that are intended to put your MTB riding skills to the test – and are guaranteed to deliver fun exciting satisfying times. \nI promise there is nothing truly scary\, just worthy challenges. \nWHAT BIKES\nOnly suitable for proper knobbly mountain bikes (no hybrids\, or road bikes) \nAND YOU\nMust be confident riding variable terrain\, and think every obstacle is simply there for you to conquer. \nWHERE\nLocated in and around the north shore region – exact riding/meeting locations will be provided to RSVP’d riders the evening prior on a need to know basis to maintain the required air of mystery. \nWhat happens on tour stays on tour\, but feel free to tell your friends too join us if they dare.

SUMMARY:Tāpoi ā Awhitu
DESCRIPTION:The Easties road trip to Waiuku for a 100km fondo (~2\,200m elevation) up around and back down the magnificent Awhitu Peninsula taking in the Manukau Heads lighthouse\, Karioitahi Beach views down the west coast and the mostly car free climbs and descents of the peninsula\, finishing on the northern slopes and planes of the Waikato River and estuaries.\nConvoy from East Auckland\, Highland Park shopping centre car park\, leaving at 6am to arrive in Waiuku at 7am\, park and ride\, arriving back in Waiuku for lunch then a drive back to east Auckland arriving by 1pm. Check in on the Facebook event to carpool over.\nThis is one of the great half day rides in New Zealand\, the world.\nThe course is around 100km with 2\,200metres of elevation; ~75% of ascending is done on the way to the top of the peninsula; it’s literally all “down hill” on the return trip to Waiuku. It is a challenging ride requiring a very good level of fitness and climbing ability. If you’re coming you might as well just ride hills from today until the day. All roads are narrow with limited shoulder but are well sealed\, in good condition and are relatively quiet. No drop\, single file and ride averaging 25kmph overall.\nThere is one shop for refreshments at around 30km in\, and nothing else until we arrive back at Waiuku so you need to be very well prepared. There are NO cafes… It’s a wild coast when the weather comes in… so dress appropriately and think hard about your tyre and wheel choice.\nGet in touch with any questions and if you can provide a ride for any one else – as at 10-May we have transport for 8 riders and bikes.
