SUMMARY:The Big Bike Film Night - Auckland CBD
DESCRIPTION:The Big Bike Film Night is on a mission- sharing the best cycling short films from around the world with you.\nShowcasing just over 2 hours of content with our 2021 collection that has everything a cycle-centric audience could want – action\, drama\, humour\, and plenty of inspiration; the evening is unashamedly and utterly\, utterly\, utterly designed and devised for the two wheel devotee!\nThis year’s treasure chest of films includes an incredible story of a transformative bikepacking journey through the Canadian Rockies; an unusual Victorian pastime taking place in modern London; a rider who has a burden of blindness and its vulnerabilities to contend with while undertaking a gruelling self-supported fat bike race in the Arctic; the humble story of a BMX Club and their dream of becoming the number one Club in the UK; a young female rider who goes back in time to carry the stories of the past into the future; four adventurers bikerafting and riding through challenging landscapes\, following the historical trails to and from one of New Zealand’s most significant rivers; and a unique bike builder who builds off-road cycles that help change people’s lives; ALL in the mix!!\nThese short films are a great reminder of why we love to ride our bike; with stories that captivate us\, stories that make us think\, and most importantly of all- inspiring us to get out and ride. All celebrate the fun\, adventure\, and joy that cycling enables.\nIf you want to ride your bike to the Academy Cinemas\, there will be parking for your steed and security keeping an eye on it courtesy of our good friends at Auckland Transport.\nSo…listen to the voice inside you; it’s telling you to go. Grab your mates\, grab your tickets\, GO ON… grab your bike and come along for the ride!!\nFor more details and tickets visit www.bigbikefilmnight.nz\nSEATING IS NOT ALLOCATED and tickets can be bought online as well as from the venue on the night (subject to availability).\nALL BIKES. SUMMARY:Liberate the Lane!
DESCRIPTION:We’re calling on Waka Kotahi (NZTA) to liberate a lane on the Harbour Bridge for cycling\, in a three-month trial this summer.\n\nSkypath has stalled\, and people trying to board ferries with their bikes are being turned away due to lack of space on board. We cannot wait five years for another solution.\n\nWith mounting congestion and increasing emissions in Auckland\, we must provide space for zero carbon transport now. The Bridge is the key missing link in our city’s cycle network.\n\nJoin our Liberate The Lane rally at Pt Erin Park on May 30th.\n\nWe are unable to host a ride over the Bridge\, because Waka Kotahi have refused our requests since December last year for a public ride. We know their refusal and lack of action is causing public frustration. It’s time they owned this\, and stepped up to deliver for Auckland.
