SUMMARY:Drop-in Bike Skills & Maintenance: Henderson
DESCRIPTION:Our Beginner Bike and Maintenance Drop-in Sessions are back for summer with sessions in Henderson\, the Cloud\, Mangere and Takapuna. \nThis session will be happening at the Henderson Service Centre – enter from Smythe Rd (follow signs for ‘Waitakere Central’)\, follow the driveway past the council buildings and Civic Centre\, and park in the carpark at the end. Look out for our instructor team and a trailer load of bikes as they will be there ready to go. \nAt the session there will be separate ‘learn to ride’ instruction for anyone who has never ridden a bike\, while other participants will practice skills such as changing gears\, braking\, bike control\, signalling and more. \nA mechanic will also be there to answer any maintenance questions including how to remove a wheel\, how to adjust brakes and how to best look after a bike. \nThe drop-in session is a flexible format where you can take part in cycle skills lessons\, bike maintenance\, or a little of both. Unable to stay for the full time? No sweat\, stay for as little or as long as you like. It is also a good opportunity to come along and ask one of our regional coordinators for more info on riding locally. \nSo\, if you are keen to master the art of riding a bike or want to learn to fix a flat… pop in. \nBikes are available on a first-come\, first-served basis. We don’t want you to miss a moment of the fun\, so it is best to be there early. \nNo need to book for these sessions.

DESCRIPTION:Our Beginner Bike and Maintenance Drop-in Sessions are back for summer with sessions in Henderson\, the Cloud\, Mangere and Takapuna. \nThis session will be happening at Mangere Centre Park – park in Centre Park carpark and look for our instructor team who will be set up there. ‘Bike skills’ is happening in Centre Park\, and the maintenance side of things is happening in the garage at the back of Mangere Community House\, 141 Robertson Rd\, and you can easily walk between the two.

SUMMARY:Northcote to Devonport Return - a guided ride
DESCRIPTION:This guided bike ride – brought to you by the friendly folk of your local Bike Kaipatiki bike burb – is aimed at people who are already confident at riding and who are looking for a relaxed ride with good company. \nMost of the route will be on shared paths or cycleways\, with the majority of the road sections on quieter back streets. \nDate: Sunday 18th March 8am – 11am \nDuration: Starting from the Northcote Library at 8am\, and returning approximately 3 hours later to the same place\, with a coffee/ice-cream stop at Devonport. \nRoute: We will ride out from Ernie Mays Street to find the Akoranga Drive shared path. We will follow the path along Esmonde Road before crossing into Eldon Street. From here\, we follow the green route in to Devonport – with stunning views of the city and harbour as we cross through parks on our way down the peninsula. \nWhat to know: Riders should be comfortable riding the distance/time described above and keeping up a reasonable yet relaxed pace with others around them. \nWhat to bring: You will need a road-legal bicycle\, ready to go (tires pumped\, brakes working)\, helmet\, money for coffee/ice-cream (optional)\, water\, sunscreen\, and appropriate clothing (keeping in mind it is Auckland).
