DESCRIPTION:Due to illness\, this event has been postponed until some date in the future. Many apologies! We’ll be back to you soon with a new date. \n— \nJoin Bike Auckland in Manukau to learn about bike trains to school from Dominic Ross\, a passionate community activator in Puketāpapa/ Mt Roskill\, who has established successful bike trains for seven local schools in the Mt Roskill/Mt Albert area! Over the past year\, Dom has contributed in revitalizing the Mt Roskill bike community through the bike trains\, in addition to organising regular community bike events. \nA bike train is a group of students and adults who bicycle to school together\, making stops along a previously designated route to pick up other children en route to school. It’s a really fun way to start off the morning\, and a great way to get kids and parents on bikes! \nThis will be a facilitated workshop so that we can get some real ideas and inspiration on paper! A three hour gathering\, there will be time to meet your neighbours and strengthen your own connections\, while we discover ways to make others throughout the community and build capacity for your\nBike Burb! \nCome along to this inspiring talk to discover valuable insights and tips for fostering community in your own bike burb!

SUMMARY:Advocating for Bike Infrastructure - A Bike Auckland Community Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Bike Auckland for our next event to help you build capacity to advocate for your cycling community! \nPippa Coom is a former Auckland Councillor and Local Board Chair who came to politics in 2010 via her cycle activism with Bike Auckland. Since then she has been a champion for safer streets\, transport options and community-led decision making. \nPippa’s presentation draws on her experience leading on projects through council processes and her on-going campaigning work. The Inner West projects that are currently underway after a decade of multiple consultations\, delays and vocal opposition provide a case study for how community advocates can build capacity to meaningfully engage\, influence decision makers and navigate the set-backs on the path to successful community outcomes. \nThis will be a facilitated workshop so that we can get some real ideas and inspiration on paper!
