SUMMARY:Varied Loop of East Auckland
DESCRIPTION:Hello\, This is ride 1 of 4 as part of the Auckland Transport Bike Month series where new members get a free coffee! \nSomething a little different and mysterious even. \nDuring the first lock down I developed and expanded on a mixed terrain loop of East/South Auckland which joins as many green spaces as I could. \nThe route is complicated and has concrete and gravel paths/roads\, a short dirt (or mud😱) section and a few steep climbs. The odd bit of main road too unfortunately.. \nWe will sneak through Highbrook and skirt around Ōtara\, roll along Barry Curtis Park then climb up Point View Reserve! \nMountain bikes (hard tail is perfect) or gravel bikes only\, NOT road bikes! \nIt will be an easy pace with plenty of stops so nobody gets lost\, BUT you must be fit and fast enough so that you don’t lose sight of the rider ahead! I will be near the front and hope to have a tail end charlie. \nPlease register through Meetups for this ride.

SUMMARY:Mt Pirongia Mtb Trails
DESCRIPTION:Please register for this event through the Meetups website. \nThe location: The Mt Pirongia MTB park is a small well designed and built MTB park close to the town of Pirongia approx 2hrs/200km from the Auckland cbd and is close enough for a day trip from Auckland. It is managed and maintained by the Waipa MTB club with around 10 trails from grade 2 to grade 5 for at least 3-4 hours of riding to make it worth the trip. \nWhere and when: We will be meeting at the Sainsbury Road MTB car park which is at the very end of Sainsbury Road on Mt Pirongia. There is a sign post to the MTB Trails at the southern end of the town of Pirongia. There is limited parking in the area by the shelter/toilet so please try and carpool if possible. You should aim to be there and READY to ride by 10:00 when we will have a brief introduction and ride briefing before heading out. \nWhat to bring: Besides your usual riding gear bring a tube\, pump and tools to make basic repairs if required and enough water for about 3-4 hours of riding and snacks during the ride as well as a packed lunch. There is a cafe/bakery in Pirongia if you want to grab something on the way. Bring a chilly bin if you like to keep your lunch and drinks cool as we will probably go back to the car for lunch at about 12:00 for around half an hour. \n* If you want to do the shuttle the cost is $5 per uplift – please bring cash as they do not have Eftpos faculties * \nA gold coin donation to the club who have an honesty box at the carpark will bring you good trail Karma for your day of free riding! \nThe ride plan: We will ride together as a group with the usual no drop policy to check out most of the trails and conditions before Lunch. If you don’t want to ride the harder trails we may break into a couple of groups of similar skill/fitness levels. Because there are only around 10 trails in total at the park we will be riding most of them at least twice. Each group will stop to regroup at the start and end of all trails. Then after lunch lets get a bit crazy and have a free-for-all ride where you can decide which trails you want to ride for the next couple of hours and look at finishing and regrouping back at the carpark by 2:30. Remember to ALWAYS ride with at least ONE riding partner! \nPost ride: You can either head home afterwards or you are welcome to join some of us at the pub/café in Pirongia after the ride at around 3pm for a debrief and feedback of the days riding! \nAny questions please ask away on Meetups! SUMMARY:Saint Heliers Bay to Onehunga Loop - 50km
DESCRIPTION:Please register for this event through the Meetups website. \nHello\, This is ride 2 of 4 as part of the Auckland Transport Bike Month series where new members get a free coffee! \nThis has been a very popular event enjoyed by many. As last time\, we will leave as two groups\, one at a leisurely pace of 15-20kmph and the other at a quicker pace of 20-25kmph. A good level of fitness is required! \nThe ride will be on 95% quiet roads and cycle paths or lanes (50/50 path/road) with regular regrouping so that nobody gets left behind. Road\, ebike or Cyclocross bikes would be preferable. \nWe will park at St Heliers Bay by Vellenoweth Green and ride along the water front to the city. Then up the Nelson Street path and onto the Lightpath followed by the North-Western path to the Waterview and South-Western path to Onehunga. Finally the foreshore path to Penrose and return to St Heliers Bay for a well deserved coffee or beer and a catchup with the other group. \nAlso for your own safety I recommend a helmet\, lights\, a bell\, bright clothing and confidence on the road. \nIf you cant make this ride I will be listing it again shortly.
