DESCRIPTION:Join us for the most fun you can have on two wheels – a bike rave featuring the one and only King Kapisi! \nWe’ll be dressing up in our wildest costumes\, strapping soundsystems to our bikes\, and taking a sunset cruise along the flash new Southern Bike Path\, ending up at a silent disco rave in a tennis court\, where King Kapisi will get the party started with a mash-up of dance music\, MC’ing and hip hop. \nThe party starts with a full noise 40 minute ride on the brand spanking Southern Bike Path\, with a short section of suburban road riding just before we roll into the rave. \nHere we’ll park up at the tennis courts where the team at Bike Auckland will treat us to valet bike parking while we party. \nBike Rave is alcohol free and designed for the whole whānau\, there’ll be complimentary fruit and Club Mate to power us through the rave. \nPresented by Bike Auckland\, Auckland Transport and Interesting Things\, the Southern Bike Path Bike Rave helps to get our community out and about and enjoying the new Southern Bike Path. \n  \nRave times look like this: \n3:00pm: Registration at the start location: cnr. With sunset scheduled for 5.15pm\, the celebrations will be lit well into the evening!\nA Matariki hub\, with a kaupapa inviting creatives into an interactive space to share their skills\, will be set up at 211 Karangahape Road. DESCRIPTION:The Easties road trip to Waiuku for a 100km fondo (~2\,200m elevation) up around and back down the magnificent Awhitu Peninsula taking in the Manukau Heads lighthouse\, Karioitahi Beach views down the west coast and the mostly car free climbs and descents of the peninsula\, finishing on the northern slopes and planes of the Waikato River and estuaries.\nConvoy from East Auckland\, Highland Park shopping centre car park\, leaving at 6am to arrive in Waiuku at 7am\, park and ride\, arriving back in Waiuku for lunch then a drive back to east Auckland arriving by 1pm. Check in on the Facebook event to carpool over.\nThis is one of the great half day rides in New Zealand\, the world.\nThe course is around 100km with 2\,200metres of elevation; ~75% of ascending is done on the way to the top of the peninsula; it’s literally all “down hill” on the return trip to Waiuku. It is a challenging ride requiring a very good level of fitness and climbing ability. If you’re coming you might as well just ride hills from today until the day. All roads are narrow with limited shoulder but are well sealed\, in good condition and are relatively quiet. No drop\, single file and ride averaging 25kmph overall.\nThere is one shop for refreshments at around 30km in\, and nothing else until we arrive back at Waiuku so you need to be very well prepared. There are NO cafes… It’s a wild coast when the weather comes in… so dress appropriately and think hard about your tyre and wheel choice.\nGet in touch with any questions and if you can provide a ride for any one else – as at 10-May we have transport for 8 riders and bikes.

DESCRIPTION:Being the first ride back after lockdowns the pace on this ride will likely be slower and a little bit more social… to allow us to ease back into it.\nCome and join us for a bi weekly MTB ride at Woodhill on Saturdays.\nIn the unlikely event that none of the hosts can make it then a ride may be cancelled up to a few days before. Register through the meetup.com link for updates and contact tracing.\nSKILL LEVEL\nThis is a blend of Intermediate and Advanced riding and I envisage we will start with intermediate and likely split up into 2 smaller groups later in the morning to allow those who want to continue to focus on an intermediate level to do so while a few in the group seek out a couple more challenging trails to end the day. You can choose which level you wish to do.\nTRAILS\nMix of grade 3 & 4 through out the day but as mentioned above you can elect to do only 3’s and the odd easy 4 if you aren’t in the advanced camp\nFITNESS\nPost-lockdown easy pace – to ease back into it.\nWe won’t be treating these as uphill races\, the ride is more focused on the ride downhill so your uphill climbing speed is not critical though you must be fit enough to climb judgement call at least 2 times.\nACG operates a no drop policy which means we regroup at trail heads and trail ends to ensure everyone is safe and accounted for.\nWe will be out there for a few hours but it will be at a comfortable pace and will regroup for each other at junctions and top of hills.\n—————–\nMEETING POINT\nArrive and meet up at the BBQ tables in front of the main Woodhill MTB Park shop by or prior to 8.45am so everyone can have time to purchase park passes and get their equipment ready to ride by 9:00am.\nArriving early means you won’t be left behind – you can always grab a coffee and socialise with the other riders while we wait for the 9:00am start time.\nCasual pass $15 or you can buy 6 or 10 month passes.\nRegister through the meetup.com link for updates and contact tracing.
