Bonus: it includes some of the nicest sections of the Northwestern cycleway! \nThis is a fully off-road\, paved & scenic route. About 16km (one way) with options for more riding\, or you could catch the train back to Kingsland from Henderson Station. \nAll bikes welcome\, this is a no-drop ride at a social pace. SUMMARY:New date: Te Auaunga (Oakley Creek) Family Safari Ride
DESCRIPTION:This will be a chilled 2.7km ride for families with small children or grandparents with grandchildren. No minimum rider age\, even balance bikes will be fine. \nOn the Moonlight Ride last year we had lots of toddlers hooning it on their balance bikes. Our destination will be the playground at Owairaka Park. We will have morning tea there\, bring your favourite snacks and drinks. We will stop on the way back at the Pump Track in Underwood Park. There is another playground in that park as well. \nWe’ll ride at a comfortable pace to suit all riders\, with regular regroup points. \nIf you haven’t been along this section of the Awa\, go here to see the background to its story.

DESCRIPTION:Join our neighbourhood ride! All ages are welcome for a guided circuit of our ‘hood\, celebrating our amazing cycling infrastructure and great community. We’ll finish up back at the hall for well-deserved free pizza\, soup\, and hot chocolate by the roaring fire.\nWhere do we meet?\nWe will start outside the Connecting Communities Hub\, Ōwairaka Sea Scouts Hall\, Murray Halberg Park. We’ll gather there at 3pm and once we have enough riders we’ll head off.\nWhat do I need?\nBike and helmet! (e-bikes are totally fine)\nGood vibes…\nAny friends and family who want to join!\nMore Event Details\n-Free event\n– Family-friendly\, easy guided ride – please take care and follow the guide riders.\n– Children are VERY welcome\, but must come with an adult.\n– A basic first aid kit will be provided – please bring all your bike safety gear\, and a water bottle\n– Participants are responsible for their own safety\n– Weather – if we are rained out\, we will reschedule. DESCRIPTION:Join Bike Owairaka on a group bike ride to the Wesley Market in Mt Roskill.\nThis market will open your eyes to the amazing array of fruit and vegetables\, crafts & assorted treasures!\nWe will ride there on shared paths starting from:\nPoint Chevalier Library at 9am through the Carrington Development and along the Te Auaunga Awa/Oakley Creek path to the Wesley Community Centre\, 740 Sandringham Rd Ext.\nRiding distance is 7kms and the pace will be easy and terrain is mostly flat.\nOption to join the ride at the Alan Wood reserve at New North Rd/Bollard Avenue entrance from 9.30am.\nThe market has water and toilets on site and traders accept cash and eftpos. The Bike Hub Mt Roskill will be open!\nAll participants are expected to bring a bike in good working order and to wear a helmet.\nChildren are welcome when accompanied by a responsible riding adult.
