SUMMARY:Hunua Ranges Regional Park River Loop Safari Ride
DESCRIPTION:This ride is quite different from our usual city-based safari routes. Instead of bike paths\, neighbourhood streets\, and urban corners\, we’ll be riding through one of the closest true forest environments to Auckland. The Hunua Ranges offer deep valleys\, native bush\, open river flats\, and peaceful gravel roads with no vehicle traffic. You will not need a mountain bike; the route is mainly light gravel so you might not be comfortable on a racing bike. Don’t worry if you are not used to gravel riding\, we will be going slowly and carefully. The Hunua River Loop is a scenic gravel and bush-edge circuit following the Mangatāwhiri Stream through the heart of the Hunua Ranges. The loop includes flat valley riding\, shaded bush sections\, and gentle climbs with views back across the river. Total distance is approximately 10–12 km\, taking 90–120 minutes at a relaxed safari pace. \nRegistration is required – please review the full details and register on this link.

DESCRIPTION:Explore Māngere Bridge and the wider neighbourhood by bike with your whānau \nJoin Bike Māngere Bridge on our Whānau Rides. A series of four easy\, whānau-friendly rides\, starting on Sunday\, 1 February. Each ride is about enjoying time together\, building confidence on bikes\, and discovering safe\, family-friendly ways to get around Māngere Bridge by bike. \nWe’ll ride at a relaxed pace\, with plenty of time to look around\, have fun\, and learn practical tips for cycling with kids. This includes route choice\, crossing points\, riding etiquette\, and sharing paths with others. These rides are perfect for families\, kids\, beginners\, and anyone getting back on a bike. \nEveryone is welcome\, and nobody gets left behind. The journey is the fun part. At the end of each ride\, we’ll enjoy free refreshments and a relaxed chance to ask bike-related questions or get to know your local cycling neighbours. \nPlease bring your own bike and helmet (safety first). E-bikes are welcome\, but the pace will suit regular bikes. The trains will be running (I checked)\, so jump on a train to Parnell or Grafton and cycle up from there. \nSafety – we will ride as a group with a group leader and a tail end Charlie. The hub will be open for bike checks and second hand bike sales. \nOur beginner-friendly group ride will begin with a casual meander up Queen Street. We will be riding on a mixture of shared pathways\, quiet streets\, and protected cycleways\, including the new Great North Road cycleway and a half-way stop at Grey Lynn Park pump track. You can see the route here. \nWe will be cycling at a social\, easy pace. The 10km route includes some hilly sections. We will have rest stops at the top of the hills\, making sure everyone is ready to go before we set off again. \nOnce we arrive at the beach we’ll park up with the free secure bike valet parking so we can enjoy our beach time worry-free. You are welcome to split off and do your own thing once we arrive. SUMMARY:Puhinui Peninsula Safari Ride
DESCRIPTION:Hello friends\, \nWe would like to invite you on the Puhinui Peninsula Safari Ride on Saturday Feb 28th will take us on new cycling infrastructure through Mangere Bridge. You will learn how you can ride all the way to the airport from Onehunga on cycle paths. We will finish up at a lookout in the Puhinui Reserve. At 199 hectares of rural landscape\, Puhinui Reserve occupies the southern portion of the Puhinui Peninsula. It has considerable historic\, conservation and cultural amenity value. The reserve forms part of the extensive Matukuturua volcanic field and is linked with pre-European settlements centred around Wiri Mountain and Matukutura (McLaughlins Mountain). \nStart/Finish will be at the Bike Hub near the Onehunga Train Station. So\, all being well\, you will be able to catch a train to and from the event. \nTiming: We will start riding at 9:00am\, we should be back in Onehunga by midday. \nRegistration: For more information and to register please click here.
