About 16km (one way) with options for more riding\, or you could catch the train back to Kingsland from Henderson Station. \nAll bikes welcome\, this is a no-drop ride at a social pace. You’ll learn how to balance on a bike\, how to pedal independently\, and some basic bike handling skills. It’s a great option for anyone who hasn’t ridden before or for anyone who hasn’t been on a bike in a while. \nSuitable for women 14 years old and over. \nWhat to bring:\nWear closed toe shoes\, bring a rain jacket (you never know with Auckland weather!)\, a drink bottle\, and your own bike and helmet if they have one (if not we can provide one). \nEvent brought to you by the Whau Ethnic Collective and thanks to support from the Whau Climate Action Network and the Whau Local Board.\nThis event will be delivered by Bigfoot Adventures. \nCost: Free – But you must book a ticket to secure your place as spaces are limited. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a whānau friendly cycle to the beach! \nMeet us at Bike Hub Grey Lynn with your beach gear and your bike! You could even purchase a second-hand bike at the hub to use for the ride! \nThis is an ideal ride for people who want to build their cycling confidence in a fun\, social setting. All bodies and all bikes are welcome. \nFrom 11am\, join us at Bike Hub Grey Lynn. We’ll have the hub open for bike checks and second hand bike sales. You or your littlies can also have a go on the pump track before we set off. \nOur beginner-friendly group ride will begin with a calm cruise through Grey Lynn’s greenways. We will be riding on a mixture of shared pathways\, protected cycleways\, and quiet streets. You can see the route here. \nWe will be cycling at a social\, easy pace. The 5km route is mostly flat\, and we will have rest stops at the top of any hills\, making sure everyone is ready to go before we set off again. \nOnce we arrive at the beach we’ll park up with the free secure bike valet parking so we can enjoy our beach time worry-free. You are welcome to split off and do your own thing once we arrive. Or\, hang out with the new friends you made on the ride!  \nWe offer the option to cycle back to Grey Lynn Park together in a group\, following the same route. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a whānau friendly cycle to the beach!\nMeet us at Bike Hub Queen’s Wharf with your beach gear and your bike! \n*****\nThis is an ideal ride for people who want to build their cycling confidence in a fun\, social setting. All bodies and all bikes are welcome. \nFrom 10.00am\, join us at Bike Hub Queen’s Wharf. The hub will be open for bike checks and second hand bike sales. \nOur beginner-friendly group ride will begin with a casual meander up Queen Street. We will be riding on a mixture of shared pathways\, quiet streets\, and protected cycleways\, including the new Great North Road cycleway and a half-way stop at Grey Lynn Park pump track. You can see the route here. \nWe will be cycling at a social\, easy pace. The 10km route includes some hilly sections. We will have rest stops at the top of the hills\, making sure everyone is ready to go before we set off again. \nOnce we arrive at the beach we’ll park up with the free secure bike valet parking so we can enjoy our beach time worry-free. You are welcome to split off and do your own thing once we arrive. DESCRIPTION:This event is by Puketāpapa Active Transport Haven. Registration required. \nDetails\nDate: Saturday 20 December. Start 8:00pm – Finish approx 10:00pm.\nStart and finish at the Queens Wharf Bike Hub\, opposite the Ferry Terminal.\nRoute length: 7 km\nRecommended minimum rider age: 12 years. \n  \nRoute Description\nThis 7 km Christmas Lights Safari Ride takes you through the most festive parts of central Auckland. We begin at the Queens Wharf Bike Hub opposite the Ferry Terminal (near the Te Komititanga Christmas Tree)\, ride through the Viaduct’s Christmas Wonder Lane\, climb gently toward Freemans Bay\, and arrive at the highlight of the night: Franklin Road — one of New Zealand’s most iconic Christmas light displays. Riders will walk the Franklin Road section while bikes are supervised at the top. We then continue to Ponsonby Central for a hot chocolate or ice cream stop at the Chocolate Factory. From there\, the route heads along Ponsonby Rd\, K Rd\, drops back into the city\, passing through Aotea Square’s Christmas installation\, and finishes with a slow roll down the Queen Street Light Trail. \nSafety & Notes\n\nSome parts of the route use busy roads — parents should consider this before bringing younger children.\nRecommended minimum rider age: 12 years.\nEnsure your bike has good front and rear lights for night riding.\nReflective or bright clothing is strongly recommended.\nDecorate your bike with Christmas lights for fun and visibility.\nHelmets required by NZ law.\nRide pace will be relaxed with regular regroup points.\nFranklin Road will be walked\, not ridden — bikes will be supervised at the top.\nRide will proceed in light rain; severe weather may postpone for safety.\n\nPlease register by clicking here. Saturday November 22nd\, Start 9:00am Finish 12:00pm – Start and finish at the Grey Lynn Park Bike Hub\, Dryden Street entrance (next to the pump track)\, Grey Lynn. \nRoute Description. This ride takes you through some beautiful reserves in Grey Lynn and on great new cycle paths in Point Chevalier. It is a relaxed 10 km loop mostly off-road with some short sections on roads. Suitable for any style of bicycle. Recommended minimum rider age is 12 years. We’ll ride at a comfortable pace to suit riders on non-electric bikes\, with regular regroup points. \nRoute Highlights & Stops \n\n\nHakanoa Reserve and Wetland – boardwalk and native planting. \n\n\nCox’s Bay Esplanade and Cox’s Bay Reserve – harbour views and tidal inlets. \n\n\nNew protected cycle paths on Meola Road and Point Chevalier Road. \n\n\nWestern Springs Park – lakeside birdlife. \n\n\nGreat North Road – near‑complete bike paths; we will take extra care through the work areas. \n\n\nReturn via Dryden Street entrance into Grey Lynn Park and the Bike Hub. \n\n\nSafety & Notes \n\n\nShort on‑road sections require rider confidence in light traffic; we will help you manage intersections. \n\n\nPlease bring water\, sunscreen\, and a rain layer. Helmets required by NZ law. \n\n\nWe keep to the left on paths and give way to pedestrians.  \n\n\nWe will ride rain or shine\, unless the weather is too severe creating a health and safety risk. \n\n\nCoffee \nWe will stop for morning tea at the Ambler Cafe & Bistro 181 Point Chevalier Road\, Point Chevalier\, Auckland 1022. \nPlease register by clicking here. DESCRIPTION:This event is by Got To Get Out. \n  \nGot to get social for the almost-end of #Biketober 2025? \nOn Wednesday night\, 29th October\, we’re opening the huge roller-door to our workshop for a free BBQ and catch up. \nThis night is an open-invite exploration of our vibrant workshop + growing collection of retro and vintage bicycles\, lovingly restored here as part of our ‘Got To Get A Bike’ sustainability initiative. \nIt’s a nice opportunity for the bike community to gather and meet\, chat and get to know one another – offline for a change! \nWe welcome anyone to attend\, in particular those interested in viewing our growing collection of restored (mostly 80s and 90s) bikes. \n************************************************* \nDeets: \n530pm roller-doors open\, BBQ on\, \n615pm-ish eating \n630 (or when everyone arrives) Rob says a few words \n8pm (or when we kick everyone out) wrap time. \n  \n************************************************* \nLocation: \nThe location is Got To Get Out Workshop\, inside the Wairau Zero Waste Hub.
