DESCRIPTION:On Monday the 9th of July the K’ Road Business Association is extremely excited to bring you: \nFrom a Trickle to a Stream: Achieving a Major Bike Mode Shift in Canada\nA discussion with Dale Bracewell\n\n*Pre-event nibbles and drinks at the Station Bar from 5:00pm. Event starts at 6pm*\nCycling is one of the fast growing modes of transport throughout the world\, and Canada has been a leader in developing cycling infrastructure in new world cities. Montréal kicked this off by developing protected cycleway networks 30 years ago\, while English-speaking Canada followed decades later.\nA variety of approaches have been taken\, from the Calgary Cycle Track Pilot and the Edmonton fast implementation of an ‘adaptable permanent’ downtown cycleway grid\, both of which delivered downtown protected cycleway networks very quickly. Vancouver and Victoria took a more traditional approach of developing connected downtown protected cycleway networks one street at a time as permanent installations.\nDale Bracewell was the Active Transportation Manager at the City of Vancouver (now the Transportation Planning Manager) and played an integral part in this transformation. Dale will be talking to the K’ Road community about cycling in Canadian cities with a focus on the engagement journey with the community\, businesses and other stakeholders.\nEveryone welcome who’s interested in how cities get from here to there. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 1 December\, Auckland’s beloved pink path Te Ara i Whiti turns three – and we’re throwing a block party with bells on to celebrate!\nThe second annual Lightpath Festival\, proudly supported by Barfoot & Thompson\, is a free\, family-friendly evening celebrating this iconic addition to our city and the joy of people-friendly streets.\nCome and experience the city by night with entertainers\, music\, art\, food\, and bike fun along Lightpath/Te Ara i Whiti and Canada St\, just off K Rd. Festival-goers are encouraged to leave the car at home and explore on foot and by wheels.\nHere’s just some of the fun in store…\n• Join in on your favourite dance numbers with the Ymca Auckland-City Y Gold dance group performing at the main stage at 5:30pm\n• Roll or walk in the Lightpath Parade featuring Auckland City Scoundrels and AKSamba at 6:00pm from the Canada St entrance to the Lightpath – all welcome to join on all types of wheels or on foot!\n• Get your groove on at the Neck of the Woods main stage with Ijebu Pleasure Club\, MC Slave’s LOGG CABIN feat. Everyone’s welcome – you don’t have to belong to any particular bike tribe\, and we love casual drop-ins as much as our regular faces. Pop in\, stay as long as you like\, get the bike goss\, and then head off to your day.

DESCRIPTION:Last year gale force winds stopped us from venturing west to explore the Twin Streams Path in Henderson. Now we’re back and ready to give it another go. \nWe will meet outside the Corban Estate Arts Centre and go on a leisurely jaunt along the path. We’ll finish where we started and have a coffee and chat at the cafe at Corban Estate Arts Centre. \nThis isn’t a hard ride so don’t feel you need to be a lycra-wearing uber cyclist to join in. If you are a lycra-wearing uber cyclist\, you are more than welcome to join us. \nIf you live centrally and want to meet as a group to take the train to Henderson we can arrange that. \nNutters Ride Together is a group of people from all walks of life who enjoy leisurely bike rides. We’re also people living with or supporting those with mental illness. Our aim is to meet on a monthly basis and create a community of nutters who ride together.
